This was from my lone bottle and a magnum to boot. The nose is deep, rich, and balanced with layered tones of red apples, pears, elderflowers, honeydew, custard, brioche, melons, baking spices, and cinnamon sticks. The Medium/full bodied feel is so sexy and deep with tart and well-integrated, high acidity. This is a utterly gorgeous Ledru that is right in its window. This is one of the few 03s Champagnes that I've had where I've really enjoyed it. This handles the vintage about as well as possible and delivers a beautifully unique wine.

Late release bottle and quite recently disgorged. Only had one glass of this freshly opened magnum. Very fresh and floral, hard to tell this is from 2003. 89 pts
Better on day 2. More honeyed notes and on palate more roundness and ripeness, despite being Brut Nature. Deluxe apple cider though with some phenolic bitterness. 91pts

Holiday lunch with many magnums (Black Salt): Perhaps unfairly compared to the Krug vintage 1996 magnum, served alongside, this wine was nonetheless delicious, made from hand picked grand cru grapes from Ambonnay and Bouzy. Pinot Noir did well in the heat of 2003, at least based on other bubblies I have tried from this vintage. Coming from magnum certainly lent more freshness to the wine. The overall impression was of a creamy texture with fine red berry fruit expressions. Notes from memory as I had left my written notes at the restaurant ...
A lost Friday afternoon gathering – 96 Krug mag, 99 Fourrier CSJ, blind CDB flight and etc. (Blacksalt, Washington DC): En Magnum, very elegant and pure nose displaying bright succulent red fruit, essence of raspberry, cherry soda, fresh apple, oyster jus and chalk. Medium concentration, extremely fine but sparse mousse, subtle red fruit, bright acidity, strong chalky mineral and a long subtle sweet red fruit driven finish. This is a really elegant, pure and sophisticated Champagne. Really lovely airy texture. It reminds me Krug Rose but a bit finer and shier mousse.

From magnum. What an adventure to follow this over an evening. Very mobile in taste and smell, it seemed to show its age more at first, smelling of shellfish and Gruyère; later, marzipan. Youthful, fresh and chalky after several hours. An elegant weight throughout, with a silken texture toward the end that complemented the umami taste the wine had finally taken on.

not blind, at the winery, from Magnum
Still very fresh and enjoyable. You don't feel the hot vintage, good acidity structure. 93
