Decanted over cocktails, needed an hour to open up. This is drinking spectacularly, broad and full on the palate with precise notes of fresh red berries baked into a thick but lightly structured body. Beautifully integrated and balanced and clearly a cut above the norm even for Grand Cru Burgs.

Surprised to see that this is so accessible right now. Improved a bit with aeration, but was fragrant and lively even when the bottle was opened. Loads of spice to along with the red cherry fruit. No overt oak. Complex, concentrated, and precise on the palate. Good length on the finish. I'm still surprised a 2009 from CDB is this approachable right now.

Lucien Le Moine Dinner with Mounir Sauoma (Sepia): In a flight of 02/06/09. My WOTN in a dinner filled with stunner after stunner. The nose is simply perfect -- everything I could ask for. Full and unending with a mix of red and black cherry and huge amounts of spice. Rich yet bright. Wow, wow, wow. The palate isn't perfect, but close. One of the riper wines of the evening, but it all holds together amazingly well. Despite the ripeness this is intense, bright and lively as it dances across the palate. Ridiculous amounts of spice accenting the fruit. A memorable wine.

Showing very young as expected but still not shy as a complex nose jumps from the glass and the palate shows expressive fruit, well delineated and long, with concentration and complexity. Terrific wine that should get even better with more time in the cellar.

Lucien Le Moine Dinner with Mounir Sauoma (Sepia - Chicago IL): In 02/06/09 vertical. Sensational aromas of black plum and cherry, dried rose petals with intense roasted and braised meat character. Similar flavors, just taken down one notch for now, but I like the potential here. Superb concentration as well. Not at its peak yet, so I think upside potential from tonight's 95 points.

Top 09 and 10 red Burgundy tasting (Capital Grill at Tysons corner, VA): Darkest of the flight along with the Leroy Combottes. Expressive nose of pure dark fruits, blackberries, lavender, cocoa, earth, sweet spices and root beer. Excellent concentration, silky and round palate and the tannins are not noticeable due to the sweet and ripe fruits. Took the bottle home and a day later, a bit more earthy note with noticeable coffee ground notes. Comparing this to the Rousseau version is interesting as this is more expressive but not as precise. This would be Pavie if the Rousseau is VCC.

Early drinkability. Monumental wine, pretty masculine. Needs air. Would decant for 2 hours.

Medium plus colour. Dark plum fruit and a whiff of oak. Broad and deep flavours, silky. Exceptional.
