A real crowd pleaser. Deep, fleshy, luscious, and voluminous. Black cherry fruit with some rose petal and cedar. Asian spices with air. Really expansive and plenty of authority to the finish.

The crunchy fruit underneath was fabulous and there is a great wine in here somewhere but for me it was obliterated by the level of reduction which was simply too prominent. Hopefully, time will ameliorate this?

Holding its cards much closer to the vest than 07 Reignots today, this has more structure and is more reserved. Similar to 09 Petit Monts in that there's just so much material, and today it's only hinting at the big future that is to come.
A rare privilege to drink these Liger-Belair wines, and we are splitting hairs as they've all been brilliant except one off bottle (a provenance issue rather than winemaking I believe).

The CFO's Birthday: Started a bit reductive, but eventually opened up a bit more. Not the most generous bouquet that I've come to expect, but had some nice, moderate spices and red berries. Not the best Comte Liger showing, but very thankful to have tasted this.

Bottle 2459/3172. Initially very acidic, totally surprising for the vintage. This is my third time with this wine and I thought some air might do it food and that proved accurate. After six hour of the bottle being open and the last glass being in the glass that nose changed to racy gingerbread, baking spice, cherry cola, sweet sweat, sour Japanese plum finish. The palate totally rounded and sweetened out too and it ended up holding its own against a terrific DRC Riche 99 side by side. Well “they” say don’t decant red Burgundy. I think this is a case in point where it would have helped a lot from the get go. Thankful that I saw it blossom but rather a function of having a bottle myself...

Beautiful aromatic with red currant, darkish red fruit, spice, flowers and perfume. Palate is subtlely deep which slowly unfolds in the glass. Still a few years away from its sweet spot window but it is already very good now.

Two bottles opened, and while the first was not exactly corked, the cond was certainly shining with cascades of rich fruit in comparison; juicy, creamy, very much in the domaine style, and of course, the vintage assists as well here. Pure joy. #Jordnær

This bottle came out late in the night following many other greats. I love this wine and this was my second fortunate encounter. My previous note holds largely maybe in the margin I preferred this wine last year (then scored 97) but I loved it again do not get me wrong. Very sweet spices, high toned red fruits weighty and light at the same time. I did prefer the otherworldly Reignots 07 by a small margin tonight. I am thinking the 09 is possibly going through a tiny awkward phase although given how hedonistic it still is i mean really very tiny. Bottle number 2457/3172.

What do you drink as follow-up to a gigantic bottle of DRC GE99? Given we had a lovely experience with Comte Liger Belair the prior night in the form of the Cras 14 the answer was this bottle. Decanted for an hour and drank over the following 2 hours - partially side by side the last bits of the DRC. This had its very own charm and was a truly unique and feisty wine. Some nori and umami, this is powerful. Touch of white pepper coming through with more air. This is fairly full throttle and it went very well with the beef. Already a delight and one can only imagine what could come in 5-10 years. Absolutely wonderful stuff!

The nose is open, high tone and vibrant. Quite difficult to drink this wine after Leroy's 2009 NSG Boudots but after 2 hours, it shows the true character, beautiful character of 2009 vintage, texture is splendid, hints of Vosne-spice on its finish and the aftertaste is like walking upper in the air.
Oh... this is what I'm waiting for and getting close to 2009 La Romanee.
Well-done !!

Another amazing bottle. The depth and harmony of the material really stood out this time. Distinct rhubarb and spice as I remembered. More complex than the Suchots.

Great Reignots from the new star of Burgundy. The wine is so refined that you can drink now. Hold 5 years is recommended. The 2010 is even better. Grand cru quality here (94-96)

Tasted at the Domaine. Very big and bright nose of spice, deep red and black fruit and again the Rhubarb note. Not quite as bright or as fresh as the 2012, but bigger and riper on the palate. This is a monster wine and will no doubt develop beautifully, but today I had a strong preference for the Clos du Chateau.

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Colicchio & Sons - New York NY): Tasted in 09/08/07 vertical, brief note. Extremely lush red and black berries with anise, espresso, liquid smoke. Nothing shy here. This is a massive wine with huge (94 point?) potential, but it's not even close to that place today, with ripeness still too dominant.

2021 New Year's Celebration Tasting (Private Cellar): PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass ("Fruit" day): Pale ruby with garnet hues.
Soy sauce, smoky florals, very highly concentrated.
Great drinkability on palate, I want a little more acidity and structure but this really a different level here.
Second round this is quite consistent with first. 94-95 points. Reserved for observations.
Third round: really good highly concentrated darker red berry fruits. Smoky fruits.
Fourth round: soy and smoke on nose. On palate sharp acidity and less harmonious.

Liger Belair Dinner - La Paulee 2019 (Eleven Madison Park): From Jeroboam, 3/8. Not the typical ripe/flamboyant vintage quality. Deep meaty nose with clarity and power. Great sweetness on the finish. 95
