This is the best bottle of the three I bought. In many ways it was showing more evolution and complexity than the bottle nearly two years ago but thankfully there were none of the cabbage hints of that bottle which made me fear imminent decay. Both nose and palate showed attractive aromas of spice sprinkled mature bramble infused fruit on a dark complexioned medium++ body with an underlying roundness sprinkled with oil and old book together with smooth texture and acidity and residues of a ripe tannic backbone. I doubt if this will get any better but it should hold for a while. Very good.

Dark pomegranate red. Rich dried fruit nose, liquorice, tobacco juice. Tannins softened and assimilated; medium full rounded body, fruity, slightly sweet, leather, liquorice. Good length.

Garrigue, herbs, lavender, spices jump right out of the glass. Some dark fruit, plum, stewed notes but tertiary. Bold rustic chewy tannins. Low acid. Some what disappointing finish.

First impressions were excellent on both nose and palate showing attractive aromas of spice sprinkled mature bramble infused fruit on a medium++ body with smooth acidity and ripe tannic backbone. However I thought that once or twice I caught indistinct glimpses of cabbage notes which might indicate incipient break up of the wine. I will drink my remaining bottle quite soon. Meanwhile very good.

Popped and poured with dinner. Just rounding into shape, really. Dark garnet, with just a hint of brick at the rim. Nose was complex, with a backbone of dark red fruit, some forest floor, though not as much of the usual barnyard, and some dusty spices. The palate was big, as usual, and had a bit of the rusticity one expects from Cayron. But it seems elegant at the same time. Lots of red and dark fruit left, with some pepper. Good balance, plenty of structure. Long finish. These are so good young these days, nice to have one that has been around a little while.

Medium to dark ruby, big garrigue nose followed by black cherry, passion fruit, cherry, red currant and hops, warm and round fruit on the attack followed by red earthy fruit, pepper and sneaky acidity, finish is a little off with hints of bell pepper, powdery red fruit and strange burnt rubber flavors
Note: One of my favorite Gigondas producers, could just be an off bottle

I generally quite enjoy the Cayron wines each vintage, and this one has a pretty typical profile. Loads of lavender, licorice, dried cherry, underbrush, graphite, & an iron streak. I love introducing people to the southern Rhone with this wine, because it has such an attractive profile and one that is quite different compared to most new world wines with the same grape composition. If I’m a bit biased, … so be it.

ruby red, deep plum with a hint of powder, rich full heat and briary structure. Big wine, hot, unbalanced. Huge finish. Much better the second night, the balance is there and integrated

Blind at store: stewed strawberry, cooked cherry, aged meat, juniper, anise, lavender and a touch of powdered sugar, garigue and decent amount of Brett/dried wild herbs-band-aid, and gravel. Very classic. Let's not forget a dose of pepper in there as well.

Smoky, rich nose, currants, cherry, lush fruit. A touch of orange peel adds intrigue. Of course the herbal aspect is there, and there's an iron/sanguinary note as well. I'm thinking this one may improve a bit over a year or two, but it's drinking well right now.

VERY fruit forward. Tasted almost like candy. Not sure if time in the cellar will do anything, but I will follow the notes from when I bought it and wait 2-3 years before the next bottle.

Lovely nose of meat, lavender, and dusty earth, this has finesse and juiciness on the palate, and could certainly age. I wouldn't say more than 15 years, but could be wrong. Anyway, I now have a new idea for pairing with lamb dishes.

This was an 87 on day 1, 88 on day 2, and a 91 on day 3. Give this some time to decant and you will be rewarded!
