Xmas & New Year in Japan; 12/19/2022-1/6/2023 (Japan): Dried fruits aroma of raisin and dark plum. Feels a little like it's dried out with the fruit disappearing before the tanning has resolved. Tangy finish with some caramel and sweet character. This was good but not sure it was worth hanging out onto for a decade.

Big generous classic Brunello, Typical for Brunello this is displaying a lot of tertiary leather balanced by big fruit, blueberry, mulberry. Big structure, full bodied. Long complex. Drinking well now.

Wow, a couple additional years in the bottle have really helped this one turn into a stunner. Opened and enjoyed over the course of 6 hours, this put on weight as the evening went on. Lots going on the nose and palate, with a mineral-driven core providing extra complexity.

Much better than our first bottle in 2017. I think that one was flawed by a defective cork. This was awesome tonight with pepperoni pizza. Smooth, lush, perfectly dry and soft and velvety in the mouth. I have one more in the cellar.

This is drinking more tired than some '01s and '03s of this I've had more recently. Medium(+) garnet color. Aromas of dark fruits, potpourri, orange peel, exotic (Indian) spices, cinnamon, clove, anise, hibiscus, sassafras...pretty incredible nose actually. I could smell this all night. Pairs well with the new Tool album. Sorry, got sidetracked there. Medium bodied, medium(+) acid, long finish and robust in the mouth, with flavors of liquor-soaked dark cherries, stewed black fruit, black tea, and lemon, with grippy, drying tannins. I dunno—the tannins and acidity suggest further longevity, but the fruit seems on the cooked side. It's still delicious though and the nose is amazing. I'm quite enjoying it to be honest. 98-99 nose and maybe like 91-92 palate? I'm glad to have had the opportunity to stay up and sit with this one; it's been a nice experience. I don't know what I'll do with the last two bottles with regard to drinking/aging (which means I'll probably forget about them for a minute and age it more indiscriminately).

Notes of dark berries, dark cherries, sweet notes of tobacco, menthol, new leather, cigar, some sweet spcies. Pretty full-bodied, with excellent medium-high tannin and medium+ acidity. Very good length. Showing surprisingly big and powerful, but very nice. Slightly clumsy compared to 2010 though.

Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (I Nonni, St. Paul, MN): Dark red plus color. This had been opened the night before and slow-O'd with a quick double decant as well; drank a glass over an hour. We drank the '01 BdM next to the '06 BdM MdG. This '01 was a step better, probably both in readiness and complexity. This was also quite good though; bigger and grittier, tart cherry and currants, soil and wood, firm tannins, dense with mushroom and fuller body.

PNP. Seemed tight. Tannic. Very dry. Dark inky color. Not our fav. However was better the second night. Maybe it just needed more air. Two more in the Cellar. Will let them lay for a couple more years.
During a matter of taste event, Brunello Masterclass. Medium-light garnet. Nose of red fruit, herbs and spices. Touch of luvage, giving it a light oxidative touch. Good mouthfeel not as clean as the 2010 with tannins a touch rustic. Good but nowhere near the 2010.

A Brunello day (Singapore): Brunello master class. Less fruit and more tannins than the 2006, a touch of card board, again a 2006 that needs more time in the cellar.

Matter of taste tasting. Dark inky color and subtle aroma. Wow, strong brunello burst - riot of red fruits - cherries, strawberries. Strong sharp finish little linger but thats fine. Wonderful wine!

Brunello di Montalcino: Come la versione annata ma amplificato sulle note scure, tantissima terra. In bocca spinge con una forza acido/sapida e chiude più dure e secco del precedente.

Pop up and pour. Ruby hue. Feminin nose of fresh rose petals, old cherry fruit, liccorice, a bit of tar. The mouth is more masculin with franc tannins, black peper, high freshness on almond and cherry stones. Full bodied, medium lenght , without heavyness, nor extraction . To young. Keep it : 88-90
Tasted blind. Fiercely tannic at first, calmed down after 1 hour in the decanter. Way too young, a bit uninteresting. Lots of fruit but little else at this time.

Quite a bit of cherry in the aroma in a strict style. The wine is rather full bodied with lots of flavor and tough tannins. The acidity is not that high and I would have liked it to be a bit higher for the wine to be perfectly balanced.

Awesome. Best yet of the 3 bottles I bought in 2017. Big on the nose. On the palate dry, soft and velvety, with a long finish. Wish I had more.

superb expression of Sangiovese, deep and pure, gentle tannin, sweetness, perfumed, everything you could be asking from this grape and a good vintage
