Wow, still firing on all cylinders. Aged fruit, some tea, a dash of oak. Just took two pulls on the cork, and better it got. With a rare seared duck breast, and a nice plate of cheeses. Yum!

Really nice fully mature bottle of Pomerol. A little orange on the rim, notes of black cherry, cassis, leather, cedar, chocolate and Bordeaux dust. Soft and smooth, nicely balanced and resolved, maybe a little past its peak, but so easy to drink now. Showed well and was enjoyed by everyone.

My favorite of 4 right bank reds. Super delicious, in a great spot. Wonderful fruit and savory qualities, with nothing in decline and great balance. This is how you hope an older bottle of wine will show when you open it.

I was a little apprehensive about this, my last bottle of this, but the color was youthful. Definitely not over the hill, but probably at the end of its peak, a mature, soft merlot with hints of forest floor, leather and soft cherry/plum. Average of 6 ratings: 92.0

Fabulous Pomerol!! At age 25, it is now at peak for a few years and was maybe even better 5 years ago... But still fabulous nose of leather and black chocolate... taste of very silky tannins and cigar box.

1990 Bordeaux Dinner (Noisette, Portland, OR): Interesting scents show on this. I smell medium rare beef spiced with a hint of cardamom, light cinnamon, and a touch of brown sugar. Great blackberries show on the palate, along with dusty, light tannins that dry things out on the finish. A touch of green shows on the mid palate, and light raspberries linger above it all. Drinking with a bit of food makes the experience cleaner.

Tough, a little overripe and tired at first, but it smoothed out as it aired in the bottle. Good balance, plum and cassis and leather. I think a little past its peak.

Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs - Double Blind; 9/17/2013-9/18/2013 (TWO CHEFS, MIAMI, FL): The wine looks Garnet colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Blackberry, Black currant (cassis), and Violet. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Bright texture. The wine finishes Long. Luis's wine. WOTN for me. I kept the glass to compare it to the following great wines, and to me it outshone them all. Michel Roland's wine.

Juicy plums, cocoa, earth, tobacco and spice aromas open the wine. This supple, round, sweet, black cherry, fennel and chocolate flavored wine at 21 years of age is fully mature. Consumers should drink this sooner than later because it's not going to get better and based on previous bottles that were a little richer, this Pomerol will probably slowly begin losing fruit.

think I liked less than table. I liked bottles of this 3 and 5 years ago, but to me this is beginning to start the slide. Ripe round fruit, but the tobacco is beginning to turn to ashtray, and the coffee edge turning bitter. Still pleasant, but I'd drink sooner than later. B

What an extraordinary buy on release; delightful chocolate in mid-90's; maturing into middle-aged, gorgeous Pomerol at 12-15 yrs (why buy Burgundy?) and still feisty (but fading) at 19 yrs. Along with the '90 L'enclos, a beautifully structured, delightful, food-friendly yet sexy Pomerol. At what I paid, what wine, wine buying and wine cellaring is all about.

Very nice aroma of licorice with hint of smoke and leather. Good silky body; not obviously Pomerol in my opinion; tannins resolved, fruit and mineral structure very subtle, and almost lacking.

Decanted and drank. Ripe berry and cassis flavor with a rustic overtone. Dark ruby color with some bricking. This wine is a delight to drink but may be slightly past its prime (or perhaps just a bottle with slight oxidization). Tannins are fully resolved but fruit remains. I look forward to trying another bottle.

nose: nice mature nose with spice box, red cherries, hues of violets, cedar tones, and a tinge of barnyard, with a playful tone of red berries
taste: tannins are well resolved, though still existant with small red berry tones, cedar, violets, spice box, and tart cherry tones. Very elegant feel with a pretty silkiness that only a pomerol can bring
overall: this is in a perfect place right now. THe fill was base neck and the cork was soft, though not close to saturated and browning at the rim. The aromatics are very melded in a sweet harmony. Aged characteristics are starting to come through, but that 90 sweetness is still very much presant

This bottle was in the early stages of full maturity, showing lots of tertiary aromas. A very big, enveloping bouquet, the fruit was all there. Some cherry, lots of forest floor, cedar and some violets. It as well integrated and the acidity kept it from being blowsy. Some tar notes, sauvage gaminess, very brooding. Long finish, repays cellaring. Drink now and over next 10+ years. Complex. Needs food.

Better than Cats! Lots of nice dark fruit. Strong tannins. Sharp acidity that subsided with time. Very deep wine, much to chew on and ponder. Mature. Developed some with airtime, but I don't think there's any need to cellar this longer.

An excellent 1990 Pomerol, this Chateau Le Bon Pasteur was quite aromatic with notes of dark fruit and earthy soil. Very elegant on the palette with a superb mouth feel; it displayed tasty sweet tannins with an intriguing bacon-like gaminess. This Bordeaux is a great find, and is drinking beautifully right now.

This was rather difficult at first. I thought it actually showed signs of heat damage, though I got it from a friend, and have had excellent bottles from the case. But the stewed notes just totally blew away, leaving a rather fun wine. Big ripe black plums and blackberries, low-acid, plush. Develops aromas of Asian spices and a little tobacco. While I don't count myself as a big Rolland fan, he did well here. B+

Ruby red fading to garnet at the edges. On the nose, very delicately scented Cuban cigar and leather, but with a twist of sweet Asian spice. Reminded me of a whiff of hashish on an Amsterdam street. I almost expected to look around and see Manet's Odalisque reclining on a divan nearby. In the mouth, very lively and long plum and cassis flavors (or more accurately, extract), perfectly balanced by the residual fine tannins. A beautiful wine, drinking perfectly now.

Blackberry and chocolate nose. Fine on the attack, a hollow midpalate left me wanting - this wine was not up to scratch, lacking some of the plumminess and seductiveness I expect from a Pomerol.

Not decanted, deep garnet with clear rim in the glass. Initially a muted nose and palate had me worried that it was corked, a few minutes in the glass laid my fears to rest. The nose was dominated by a mélange of ripe sweet fruit, with just a hint of mocha latté. In the mouth a full bodied, balanced offering. Over the course of the two hours this bottle lasted the “fruits” fought for prominence in this mélange, first red fruit then black. Tannin was not apparent until the very end of the time spent; it then just crept into the finish.
