Sadly over the hill. Dark amber in color with a surprising amount of dark sediment. Kept in the fridge for a few days to see if perhaps it would come around but alas it never did.

The color is showing a golden hue hinting at this wine’s 10 years of age. Nose is showing just a little sprinkling of brown sugar over pure citrus. Tasted blind I’m 99% sure I’d have guested a similarly aged Huet chenin blanc. It has that honeyed, waxy pear characteristic. But then also a little smokey gunmetal that I associate with Chard. Palate is full bodied with a very fine almost silky texture. A very tightly integrated beam of acidity runs through it. Impressive length. Richer fruits on the palate. To me, this all comes together beautifully. But I am surprised to see more than 50% of these wines still in people’s cellar (thanks CT!). What are you folks waiting for??? :)

Deep golden yellow/caramel color.Massive aromas of butterscotch and caramel. A broad, almost oily palate pretty much diminished of fruit. Notes of oxidation and then a beam of bright acidity. This reminds me of the oxidized wines of Nicolas Joly in Savennieres.

Very enjoyable wine. The nose was tight with smoke, peach and herbal notes. The palate was medium to full bodied but crisp and bright with lemon, pear, peach and a touch of toast. The length of the finish was impressive and clean.

The texture is the first thing to strike me about the wine. Satiny with an almost glycerine feel. But with good weight. Nose has citrus with some ginger spice. Palate is exuberant with lemon zest, lemon meringue and some brown spice. No hints of overt oak. Turns slightly but not unpleasantly bitter towards the finish that sails along.

What impreessed me most about this bottle was how it tasted 2 days after opening and leaving in fridge- a perfect accompaniment to fresh caught Maine haddock, blackened and grilled. This is a case where the wine has the weight to enjoy with heartily seasoned foods but still is refined enough to be in balance- no cloying vanilla toasty flavors.

A really good bottle of Chardonnay. Great nose of mixed fruit some sweet and some citrusy. Very clean taste, ultra smooth and great with pompano, swordfish, mahi-mahi, and drum we had for supper at Peche' in New Orleans. I highly recommend this wine.

Full bodied and lovely fruit and acidity, lots of lemon peel that i love. A bit to oaked for my palate, though still very good minerality and subtle oak compared to many other US chardonnay.

Pale yellow color. Apples on the nose and palate, with a little vanilla in the background. Very good acidity, which keeps it from being a run-of-the-mill Chardonnay. Balanced with a medium-lengthed finish. Best tasting Chard I've had so far this year.

Steep price tag, but tasty bottle. Good balance, with a little citrus and a little oak.

Hirsch Vineyards with Special Guest Jasmine Hirsch (Beltramo's Wines and Spirits, Menlo Park CA): Vanilla, Cinnamon, Leather nose.
Good acid but more fruity and sweet than I prefer. The 14% alcohol felt like more.
