So very dark yellow in color, even amber in a decanter. This is a big, full-bodied and oily wine, surprisingly oxidative, with orange marmalade fruit, notes of wildflower honey and toasted nuts, and some gentle salty minerality and medium acidity. I recall the '05 and '07 being in a gentler, much fresher style, which I was very fond of. This isn't terrible, but I don't find it compelling, and on the second day it's already turning. Disappointing for me in this vintage.

A little aggressive, honestly, with an oxidized orange petrol-ly character that doesn't play that will with a white Burg. Still a ton of character at the price point. Just looked and see this is consistent with first bottle I tasted.

Toasty wine that has noticeable oak, hints of fresh flowers, hazelnut and some cream. Palate has nice complexity and balance. While the oak is noticeable on the nose, it's not cumbersome on the palate. This is medium-bodied with nice florals and minerality.

OK, a little disappointing. Maybe a little premox already?? Dark brownish yellow, which Chardonnay at this age should not be. Aggressively briney. Good acidity, and I guess maybe I would have liked if I had been expecting the brine, but was a bit offputting.

Perhaps a Macon for the cellar. Unusually deep yellow pour portends a very concentrated wine. Acidity somewhat dominates the fruit at present. Time in the glass allows the abundant fruit to shine through. Cote de Beaune quality at Macon prices. Will likely merit a higher score when it softens, if you're willing to risk premox.

Showed more oak this time with a floral-driven palate. This also featured some butterscotch and vanilla on the palate.

Why such the high score Ray
Was it the Japanese restaurant
Was it the Sushi it went with
Was it the company
Well all I can say is that this is a lovely crisp Burgundy with notes of Brioche.
Not too much complexity and some nice sharp edges
