This held up remarkably well; definitely not deteriorating yet. Immediately identifiable as a California chardonnay, but restrained on the butter and oak. Very pleasant!

ABS : 91 Rqp-Terroir : +1

I loved the nose on this with notes of honey, vanilla, and just a hint of burnt oak. Smelled like a nice mix of flowers when it warmed to room temperature. Flavors of green apple, pears, and peels of orange on the palate. Nice complex finish that was pleasant and provided great QPR. My only bottle bought at auction and it was magnificent. I was concerned given this was two years past the suggested drinking window but this was excellent. Highly recommended and I would look at future vintages to purchase if the price was reasonable.

Our evening got better as we had an early dinner at Hanna’s. The meal was great. I enjoyed a simple roasted chicken with spinach and carrots and had a glass of 2010 Stags' Leap Winery Chardonnay. It was pale straw in color and had a nice flowery citrus nose. Besides the great fruit, it had the right amount of mineral feel to the glass. A great pour for $14 a glass.

We have family members with a variety of preferences regarding whites and Chards in particular, but everyone loved this black-label Stags' Leap offering.

Lemon and floral on the nose. Soft mouthfeel with a crisp tartness of grapefruit and green apple and a touch of pear. Finish with a pleasant dose if acid and minerality.

This came across very ripe, almost sweet. Ripe peach and tropical fruit with white vanilla and caramel. Nice acidity, though, which keeps this from being a Rombauer-like mess. Still, a disappointment considering how much I've liked previous vintages.

TN; Wines under $18: Light gold in color. The nose has tropical fruit and some pineapple. On the palate, more tart grapefruit. Creamy texture. More bitter grapefruit juice on the finish. I liked this wine. Just a bit of oak. Easy to drink and bold fruit without being bitter. Not all that varietally correct although blind I guessed some sort of Chard/Rhone varietal blend from California. Nice wine.

A beautiful non-malo Chard. Perefect for those who think they don't like Chardonnay as well as those who don't like over the top Chardonnay. Buy by the case. This is the real deal.

Tart lemon, high acidity, tons of toasty oak, low complexity, drink sooner than later.

Hart Davis Hart BYOB Dinner (Hinterland Gastropub, Milwaukee, WI): Very faint but pleasantly perfumed and floral nose. Light oak allowing the chardonnay to speak. Somewhat light and simple, but pleasing and easy to drink.

Bright, with lime but also some guava and nutty components. Fresh acid, but also rich. Drank at Manuel's in Austin.

Solid Chard. I really enjoy this one. Subtle and not overwhelming. Some pleasant sweetness on the midpalate as well but finishes dry.

One of the best American Chardonnays I've had in a while. Smooth, restrained, light on the oak, subtle sweetness and lively finish. Balanced goodness!

Light in color with green apple on the nose. Light bodied with lemon flavors joing those of green apple. Finishes with a bit of spice.
