had with Teddy and his daughter Paige in Huntington Beach late night outside by the fire, what a great wine, great acidity and high toned red fruit with a bunch of spice... very very nice and worth the $170 I paid

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Very mature black fruit with a meaty character, I thought it from 1997. Very good weight and fruit, but seemingly slightly lacking acidity, although this did slightly freshen up over the 10 minutes it was in glass.

HDH Bordeaux Auction; 10/30/2015-10/31/2015 (Chicago, IL): This is a very lush and big wine, with some juicy black fruits on the nose. Plums, slightly roasted and very dark and on the nose and palate. There's a slight bit of stewedness as well. Not over the top and surprisingly restrained, but to be honest, I think that this just needs a lot more air and time. Lovely density and a thick texture that can only be thanks to old vines.

nice wine, big with loads of palate, nice fruit melange but with some savory notes, salty and meaty too… on night two fruit was a bit stewed and the wine had become just a bit heavy for me, acid level was fine but just heavier, i guess not surprising for an '03

Opened roughly 45 minutes before serving. Served next to the 00 version of the same wine. While this certainly showed some of the riper character of the 2003 vintage, this was surprisingly much more Burgundian than the 00 in the next glass over. Ripe red cherry and plum with some damp earth and mild darker spices. The same flavors came through on the palate as well. Medium body and finish; lacking a bit in acidity. If I wouldn't have watched them pouring the two wines, I would have been convinced that they swapped the 00 and 03 when pouring.

Mad for Magnums (Ai Fiori - New York NY): From magnum. Lush, forward blackberry, black cherry and plum aromas with sweet spice, dark chocolate. While I could have been convinced this was New World Pinot Noir based on its aromas, the balance, acidity and minerality on palate was beautifully and charmingly Grand Cru Burgundy, even with all the prominent ripe black fruit.

Garagiste Burgundy Tasting (Seattle WA): Wine tasting. Nose seemed closed at first, but floral aromas then emerged with boysenberry, black cherry, espresso and dark chocolate. Incredible black fruit on palate with power and density that couldn't be mistaken for anything other than Grand Cru Burgundy. Flavors evolve with wonderful spice emerging on finish. Great stuff, with almost perfect balance and a long life ahead of it. My favorite wine today in a long lineup.

This wine was ruby red with purple hints, and medium color intensity. Black cherry liqueur and earth aromas, with spice and cherry flavors. Balanced, with a medium to long finish.

Doubled decanted 40 min before meal. Good aromatics. But not much in the way of completexity or length. Not bad, just nothing compelling.
