Bright red in color. 15.2% ABV. Beautiful nose of red fruits, white pepper and licorice. Medium body with medium acidity and remarkable balance. Delicious and surprisingly elegant. Raspberry liqueur, cherries, baking spice and pepper on the palate. The finish is long and spicy. This vineyard is maintained by the team at Turley and the vineyard management shines through here. Just an exceptional Zinfandel. Drink over the next 1-2 years.

Too old maybe? Just not much going on. A bit flat & flabby, bland, no real spice to it, not much classic zin character, kind of sweet fruit. The aroma is a bit port-like. Disappointing.

Light red, sort of like Grenache. Berry and spice in the nose. Lean flavors of chocolate cherry, pepper, leather and tannin. Good and not too overripe. A quaffer, not a thinker.

Always my favorite from Turley, this Dogtown did not disappoint. Aromas of wet rock and new oak waft from the glass, with notes of raspberry, black pepper and chocolate. On the palate, red and black fruit, underlaid by notes of clove and hard candy. Long, spicy finish, with no hint of alcohol despite the 15.2% ABV. Don't know why I was only allocated one bottle of this -- low yields this year?

Initially drunk in a small restaurant wine glass that really masked much of the bouquet and flavor. After drinking it from a Riedel glass, it was much more appealing, with a bouquet and flavor of plums and brambles, but with limited intensity, reflecting its age. Turley Zinfandels don't benefit a lot from cellaring.

The wave is cresting on this one. Luscious legs with great volume, but picking up bricking around the edges. The bouquet and palate offer more tar and creosote notes than the black fruits I remembered in previous tastings. And the finish tends toward prune and port-like qualities. Still a big bruiser (15.2 abv); just wish more of the fruit would have held. Drink up.

Excellent! Substantial effort. Fruit on the nose, mainly raspberry and blackberry. Good weight on the palate, and a lingering finish. Good tannins that complemented a great tuna tartar. Love the Turleys.

This is yet another standout offering from Turley, with Ehren Jordan crafting a full-bodied, deep ruby wine with 15.2% alcohol...one which you would never guess carries that kind of alcoholic "baggage." Ripe black bramble fruits, pickling spice, cranberries and chocolate characterize the nose and palate, the latter of which is full-bodied, fresh and with nicely integrated, medium-weight tannins. Solid in the middle and long on the finish, it is hard to imagine a Zin lover who cannot get close to this one. Drink now-2016.

Nice nose upon opening with raspberry/cherry/strawberry notes. Agree with others not as deep in color as most other Turleys. Well balanced with acid and tannins just right. Not a big, spicy zin but pleasant to drink.

This wine has some of the lightest color I've seen in a Zin. On the nose and somewhat on the palate, this has an almost Pinot like profile. Mouthful of reduced strawberries but with a lot of balance and finesse. Don't get me wrong, this is still a big wine, but it dances pretty well.

A nice bottle of wine, it's reached a good balance at this point. Still lots of raspberry, licorice, and current. I little smokiness on the finish. But not showing much heat.

Surprisingly, i found this to be one of the better Turley Zins I have ever tried. I forgot to take notes...i had it 3 weeks ago...but it had great fuit, balance, and and elegant finish. Fist time i had had this wine and i was really impressed...

A bit "hot" initially, but blew off with some time in the glass. Big Zin flavors of spice and cherry with a hint of black licorice. Turley rarely disappoints . . . Salud!

Raspberry, licorice, and plum. A zestiness on finish that reminds you it is a Zin. Does not seem as heavy and over extracted as its 15.2% ABV might suggest. Drinking really well right now.

2012 ZAP-time to prepare for the 25th ZAP Event. Nose of black cherry, black pepper, allspice, and earth, more of the same on the palate, medium/big body, almost fruit forward, delicious tasting, mouth filling fruit, long finish, probably better in two years.

Excellent bottle. Everything one would want from a Zin. Fruit, structure, pepper, absolutely sexy and such a pleasure. Typical Turley mastery of this varietal.
