Wow!! Incredible nose of spice and lovely red, black and blue fruit. Sweet and amazingly soft and open in the mouth. Outstanding energy and length. Perhaps this will not live as long as the 2001 we had next to it, but this was so delicious right now and I expect to hold for a very long time. Everything you want from a Leroy experience.

Burgundy For Lunch Bunch Holiday Event 2023 (Phoenix, AZ USA): Served blind, this has absolutely gorgeous aromas of rose petals, Vosne spice, and tea - a La Tache perhaps? You could get lost in this wine, so exotic and beguiling. What a rare and wonderful privilege to drink a mature Leroy Grand Cru, this vineyard in particular always seems to mesmerize me.

Leroy Field Trip; 2/11/2022-2/14/2022: 1356/2630, breathed for three hours then splash decanted for half an hour to serve. Gorgeous bouquet of high-toned red fruit, mouthwatering acidity, flamboyant, so spicy and so pure. It is more immediately perfumed, and perhaps wider, than the Richebourg. Superb concentration, elegance without any heaviness. Early drinking vintage for Madame; further upside expected with age. 96+

Knockout floral aromatics that can go on for days, arguably prettier than Richebourg. Persistence and complexity were something to behold. A wine that had my undivided attention. 1356/2630.

Holiday Burgundy Lunch: Served blind, and wow was the greatness of this wine evident from the first sniff. The most pure aroma, this is flat out thrilling tasters around the table getting giddy. The Vosne spice was textbook, everything I love about Vosne-Romanee in one perfect glass. A thrilling, majestic, brilliant wine. This was my wine of the day amongst incredibly stiff competition, it had a touch of magic that I woke up thinking about the next day.

One Harbour Road. As good as any 2000 I've had, a wow wine... the smells and tastes expressed small ripe berries and a lot of stems. Exuberantly floral and stemmy aromas, but elegant and more refined than DRC. There's a ton of density and punch yet despite the seeming contradiction minerality and acidity on the palate. (338/2630)

Well, I suppose the big news is that every thought it "bested" the DRC Romanee St. Vivant served right along side. Both were exceptional, this one just had more of everything. And noticeably more of everything too. One could claim the DRC was more refined, but I think that would be damning with false praise.

Dujac City - Burgundy Fest (Waterford Wine Co. Tasting Room): Beautiful cherry red in the glass. A nose of flowers, sweet earth, ripe cherry and beauty. A slice of ethereal heaven. This followed a long line of amazing Burgundies, and even still this shone through. Fruits, tannins, acid, etc. don't even come into play here. Simply transcendent. One of the most beautiful wines I've ever experienced.

Alan's Vosne Romanee Birthday at BOKA (BOKA Restaurant, Chicago IL): Tons of perfume on the nose. Dark red fruit and floral notes with a little bit of bacon and fantastic baking spice notes. Great body on the palate with delicate, yet powerful, fruit and a mineral backbone. Very long finish. Absolutely delicious.

Perfect bottle. 100% levende. Magisk. Stor stor vin.

Romanee St.-Vivant Dinner (Sepia - Chicago IL): Perfumed and floral with great Asian spice again. Mostly red fruit. Fascinating wine in that it was very similar to the 1998 Leroy RSV in this flight but just showed a little less of everything. Again, lots of fruit and spice, along with great precision. Clearly in its drinking window.

Romanee St. Vivant Dinner at Sepia (Chicago IL): Cherry cola notes on the nose with the asian spice I find in Leroy RSV. Bits of lilac as well. Palate was a step behind the nose, but still had great fruit and length. Acid was just a bit too high on the finish.

1995 Bordeaux Showdown (Azuma): Densely coloured. Earthy, spice and black pepper. Brilliance is evident on the palate - textured and layered, there is plenty of complexity here even though the wine is young. Long and balanced, this was delicious now but also has a bright future.

200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Awesome wine here as well. Rich, ripe with beautiful cinnamon, still enough acidity to carry it. Top like all wines in this Leroy flight. Madam is just Queen Elisabeth of Burgundy. Unmatched by anyone!
