  • From a magnum. Tightly packed nose with dark & red fruits slightly over shadowed by smoke, oak and pencil shavings. Medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. Loads and loads of tannin on the palate with the dark fruits competing to be seen over the pencil shavings, oak and tobacco. Long length. Way too young for our palate.

  • (Tasted Blind) Brown sugar, caramel, boldos, very young and extremely tannic. Slight green note, but this is structured and needs a long time in the cellar. Very hard to tell where this is from, Chile or Bordeaux? 90 points with potential long term upside.

  • More Weeknight Tasting in KW (Dave's House): Popped and poured, served blind, followed for approximately one hour. On the nose, this has intense graphite that almost overpowers everything else, and also shows a bit of dark fruit hiding, as well as a bit of cedar and herbs. On the palate, dark berries, pencil lead, herbs and oak. Relatively big tannic structure here, with medium acidity, which frames the bitter finish. With air, this did not get any better. I was hoping the fruit would come out, but this essentially smelled like a cup full of pencil shavings. I guessed this one as 2008 Bordeaux, which proved to be correct.

  • Deep purple with a forward nose of fresh tobacco and plums. Big repeat on the palate as this was singing upon opening. Decent acidity and well integrated tannins but it fell apart with about 4 hours of air. Textbook Margaux character just too bad the structure wasnt there. Still a good buy tho and nice pop and pour.
