Cork broke but saved without any debris. Could smell the wine immediately. Dark fruit, plum, mushroom and slight floral tones. Plate first taste without a decant solid, second sip, wow. Long finish well balanced flavors. High acid but not off putting. Blackberry, blueberry, plum still.

Magnum size. Opaque red center. Stewed cassis, blackberry, liquorice, vanilla, and spices. Well balanced and noticeable tertiary integration. Rich bodied with soft, coarse tannin and medium-high acidity. Lacking in finesse.

Wonderful Bordeaux type expressions of noble wood, perfectly matured black berries, cherries, liquorice, toast aromas, chocolate, plum, menthol. Ample, complex, well structured and just entering its drinking age. No hurry, but you won't regret opening now.

Decanted 2 hours. Aromatic nose of dark fruit and violet. On the palate more black fruit, cassis and cherry. A little mocha, some pepper and sweet tannins. Rich but not jammy. Medium + body, enough acidity for freshness. Still young, but giving pleasure in its early window.

Only some baked sesame and blackberry, sweet red date on the nose. Tons of braised green leaves, dust and animal scents on the palate. Disgusting. 99% Flawed, may be heated.

cork was in good condition. nose was great upon opening. after two hour decanting it showed some very strong new-world characters-big, bold flavour with firm tannin on the mid-palate and throughout. after decanting for 5 hours the new-world characters slowly faded. instead, old-world right bank bordeaux feel started taking over. very pleasant experience and enjoyed every single sip. Should sleep well for another 5-10 yrs.

I thought this wine was incredible. Phenomenal nose out of the bottle, decanted for about 2 hours, this was a brilliant blend of new and old world styles. Dark, deep red and purple fruit, not at all sweet or overbearing, with well integrated tannins. Extraordinarily smooth. This isn't going anywhere. Perfectly ready to drink with moderate decant, or hold for 10+ years. Next bottle 2019 +

Estupendo. Muito mais estrutura que o EPU 2012, mais aroma, mais complexidade, sabor e persistência. EPU é um Almaviva diluído, sem perder as qualidades.

Dinner with Ray and Marianne (Pine Close): Very sound, but still far, far too young. The nose was a nice meeting between Bordeaux and Argentina, with ripe notes of cassis and dark berries wed to tobacco and greener herbs. With time, a nice earthy tone came out amongst the mix as well. Quite nice. It was on the palate where the strength of the wine shone through though. Lush, ripe but wonderfully balanced and poised, this was a delicious mouthful of dark fruits - cassis, plums and black cherries - seasoned with spice and herb, earth and brame. In spite of some serious weight and depth, this had a lithe clarity to it. Still shaped by powdery tannins and primary fruit, this has a long way to it yet, but it is both a satisfying and impressive wine even now. I would love to try this in 5-6 years time.

Have had this a few times over the last 3 years. By far the best taste yet. Had alongside a 09 Casa Lapostelle and this one blew it away. Nose and palate is initially Welchs Concord grape jam, in a good way. Long finish of dark fruits and cedar..

Ausgezeichnetes chilenisches Cabernet-Gewächs auf sehr hohem Niveau. Olfaktorisch und gustatorisch unvergleichlicher Cabernet. Allerdings schon sehr abgerundet und daher sicher kein Dauerläufer und kein weiteres Entwicklungspotential.

Dinner at friend's house. I did not expect to like this as much as I did. I figured the French and Italian Bordeaux blends would have won out, but the classic Bordeaux nose/palate with a little spice and great, lingering finish made this a truly enjoyable wine.

Tasted during a Wine Advocat event - A matter of taste. Medium-dark ruby. Nose of dark fruit with quite a lot of wood. The palate feels a bit simple and oaky as well. Not really a fan of this.

Collaboration between Baron Rothschild and Concha y Toro. 77/20/rest Cabernet/Carmenere/Petit Verdot/Malbec. Nose shows the Carmenere with a kind of fennel, black pepper. Palette shows immediate layers of sweet fruit, spice, blackberry, raspberry, spiced cherry, beautiful juice. I had this 8 hours after a double decant and it was really singing with soft tannins behind it.

Inky purple, touch cooked bell pepper, earthy, small cassis fruit and wet cigar; beautiful blackberry fruit and a hint of sweet spice; rich fine tannins, smooth with good lift but very extracted and rich; long finish with a little licorice. 92-93. CS 73% Carmenere 22%, CF 4%; 18 mo. new French.

Wines before, during and after dinner at La Trompette. (Chiswick): I took this to La Trompette and we all ended up eating duck, for which this wine was too heavy.
It's got some real depth to it, but needs a few more years or some weighty food if you want to open it now.
