The wine has clearly changed - we are still getting a lot of tropical fruit - pineapple, passion fruit - and grape - we are however not really getting petroleum this time - the wine wine has always had residual - but is becoming more pronounced this time. We are not getting any ripped apple this time - still clearly honey. Still a nice long aftertaste -but the sweetness is becoming more dominant here also. We still like the wine a lot - but fell that the the wine has lost a bit of its freshness and therefore we are lowering our rating to very solid 92.

happy to stay at well deserved 93 the wine is drinking well - comes across as very elegant and refreshing - we are getting petroleum and tropical fruit (pineapple). We are also getting ripped apple and clearly some grape - especially toward the end - where you get a nice long aftertaste. Nice minerality and we also get some honey.

The wine comes across as very elegant and refreshing - on the nose you get petroleum and tropical fruit - on the palette more tropical fruit and petroleum - the tropical fruit is especially pineapple - also riped apple and I still get some honey - still good minerality - the wine has a good balace and a nice long pleassant aftertaste - we will increase the rating further to 93

It's been four years since I last tasted this, when it was (in retrospect) in a spotty phase, and a bit unwieldy. Today it is really singing, comfortably on its plateau of maturity, marrying elegance and weight, freshness and ripeness, a beautiful reflection of the richness of the vintage and the finesse of the terroir. Aromatic nose with ripe (but not / no longer tropical) Riesling fruit, flowers and spices, easily flowing palate with gentle bitters, and a complete and long finish. Drink now - 2024.

What an improvement - I had my last bottle in 2013 - you can still fell the tropical fruits that was dominating the wine in its early life - but now you also get petroleum - you get honey - acidity is clearly lower - I would say medium - still minimality - a good balance - but clearly very different from what I had 7 years ago - I think the wine has turnout very well - and I am happy to increase my rating to big 92.

Full, fat and flowery nose. Nice comination of rubber-petrol and honey. Minerally modelling clay notes. Good depth. Fat, medium-fullish, off-dry palate. Pure fruit. Lovely fruit. High, but not ultra-high acidity. Peach, honey and apple. Less petrol impression on palate. Actually very nice. In a perfect drinking window. If you like petrol - cellar 3-5 more years.

Great bottle of riesling from one of the oldest wineries in german history. It reminds me that wine is history. Placed in Rheingau this winery has made their rieslings for more than 9 centuries! Almost 10 years old this bottle of GG riesling starts to show what happens when ageing great riesling. A deep complexity where spices and minerals are more predominant than fruit. A little sweetness at the finish helps to round off the edges. A very smooth and pleasant wine.

German wine tasting followed by a Lunch (@ de Nederlanden): Beautiful bouquet with some development and fennel. Minerals and white fruits as well. On the palate a slightly sweet start, soft minerals, licorice, anise, beautiful bitterness, a bit drying. Good length and a bit tropical. Really beautiful wine. 92 - 93

A German Wine Tasting-cum-Lunch (Restaurant De Nederlanden *, Vreeland, NL): Supple and rounded, harmonious, displays the warmth of the vintage, the richest vintage so far in this tasting, but not big or burly, does not really stay true to its delicate style, powerful, not very typical for Rheingau, excellent length.

A very complete wine, stylish and with lots of interest. Good flavours, ripe fruit, herbal bitters, floral top notes, well balanced, juicy acidity, medium weight, ageing in wood adds roundness and creaminess, lively and fresh for a 2009, very good length. Drinking well, now - 2019.

drank it Feb 2011, too young at that moment, I guess now it will right, a good Rheingau Riesling, fullbodied with middle (+) minerality, good length, clean creamy finish

Lys, mildt, gyllen gul. Flott nese preget av dyp frukt med toner av fersken og honningmelon og med en lett, flørtende vaniljeaktig sødme. Stram frukt med god konsentrasjon og fin dybde. Leskende, frisk syre. Intens mineralitet i finish. Sitter lenge i. 91+ P

Dense and focused nose offering typicity with intense minerality and florality. Combines power and finesse in palate. Balanced with lively acidity medium+ body and medium+ alcohol. Dense, well defined and well structured wine that will evolve over the next decade.

Very clean aromas, still very fresh with very good definition with florality, fruitiness and salty minerality. Texture is almost creamy and minerality is very elegant although it leaves an almost phenolic astringency. Body is medium+ and flavours open up in the palate like a peacock's tail. Has roundness and fruit reaches the ripeness of peach (I mean it has riper fruit than just lemon). Elegant and balanced, although extracted wine at 13.5% abv with good ageing potential.

Ripe, round, but relatively neutral in its white fruits, lacks grip. Disappointing for what it should be/is. Cellared since original release.
