This was a bit oxidized, pity. Could tell at one time in its life it was probably decent, however those days are in the rear view mirror.
This bottle was flabby and lacked everything one would hope for in a Batard Montrachet. Damn. If I had to give it points, I'd say 89 as it you could tell it had bones and had the hallmarks of something well made.
To make sure, I drank half the bottle (couldn't drink more anyway as was boring) and tried it the next day, was worse on day 2.
Stored for over 15 years in my wine cellar. I've had more bad bottles than good w Girardin.

Wine was still impressive with a ton of fruit, tended toward the apple, pear side. The age however blew off some of the structure and backbone and the wine was a bit lighter than I remember from the earlier tastings. Terrific enjoyment on a new years eve.

I was taken aback by how big and rich this is. There is so much depth and flavour. Maybe doesn't have the piercing acidity I expected but the finish is long and this is lovely as it warms in the glass. Brilliant shape for 18 years and not a hint of premox concerns. Still fresh and vibrant, albeit for me, this is at its peak and to be enjoyed now. Its quite stunning.

No TN's and this was added to the dinner late but left a favorable impression. Good aromatics of golden & yellow fruit and some spice notes with out pox. Powerful rich flavors with some secondary development and solid concentration and extract. Nice layering of flavors with some air and solid acidity on the back end which keeps it all tightly knit. A solid bottle with more power than finesse that can work well with the right food pairing, it should drink well for several more years.

Slightly golden hued; orchard fruit on very open nose, rich fruit; glows and sings in the glass with great tension of acidic backbone, richness and savory minerality. Outstanding wine

Morey-St Denis Grand Cru Dinner (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck, Paragon): Tight when first opened, this opened up nicely with time. The nose showed deep notes of cream and chalk and mineral lining a centre of white fruited aromas. Just a touch of honey and spice blooming at the edges of the bouquet hinted at a bit of age. The palate had powerful core that packed a real punch, but it was certainly tightly wound, with its creamily textured white-fruit flavours coiled around a beam of fresh, lemony acidity and fine minerality that threaded its way into a big, powerful finish flushed with a bit of spice, some nutty accents and a touch of ripe heat. With time, a lot of sweet lemony flavours came out as well. This had great length and depth, with just a touch of something bittersweet right at the end. All in all, a bit on the big, weighty side, as would be expected for Batard, but this was quite nicely pulled together with the juicy freshness of the vintage. A pretty good wine, and it will probably benefit from a few more years in bottle too.

Good Wine with a Boring Super Bowl (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): From 3L. Much like the bottle of the same wine opened 2 days ago. Lots of apple and pear, all ripe with some nut and spice support. Fat and lush with same fruit on palate, perhaps some peach as well, with a very Batard character.

Drank probably a bit too young, but still an enjoyable wine. Lemon flavor predominated. Tasty, but was expecting a lot more. Not as complex or as long of a finish as I would have hoped.

Saturday Dinner; 8/28/2010-8/29/2010: This is more of an impression than a considered note since I didn't taste this on open. The bottles was the last third of a bottle a friend had opened the night before and then stored in the fridge. Lovely, precise Puligny notes with good minerality, lemon and some white floral notes. However, this didn't scream grand cru to me - it was competitive with, but not better than, a good premier cru. Was it better the night before? Not according to the friend who'd had it then (this 1/3 of a bottle was the starter for a dinner with a '90 Brunello being the main wine). If you've had Girardin whites from the late 90s and remember them as oaky things, this is NOT that - the flavors were classic Puligny, just not as complex or intense as I'd expect from a Batard.

Dinner at Bardessono with Maureen and MW students. Amazing wine. WOTN. Nose of rocks and fruit. Lots of white flowers and citrus. More minerality than the typical Batard and tons of finesse. Finish went on forever. I'm still not sure why I'm not giving this 100 points!

Compared to a 2002 Leflaive Pucelle and this one was a tad better. Drank for mikes 65th at Cafe Rio with Wendi.

Reaching full maturity; complex nose with later hints of petrol as in Riesling. Rich and luxurious.

Burg Dinner with Friends...and LaTache (RPM Italian - Chicago IL): Lush and fat combination of stone and orchard fruit. Seemingly very ripe with good spice support, new oak very nicely integrated. Very forward and Batard in character. Very good now.
