Vastly disappointing, though it has improved a bit about 24 hours later (which is strange, because its improvement is also marked by some oxidation, presumably because of its age; but there is a bit more fruit). I have insufficient experience with this grape to say much more than I found the wine astringent and lean (thin) to a degree almost of disappearance. I've had better $2.99 wines from Trader Joe's (well, make that $3.99 wines).

A smooth medium bodied wine with a nice mix of blackberries and fresh red fruits. Very mineral, salty and chalky, high acidity and easy drinking style with soft texture. Would have hoped for a little more weight and prefer wine with less acidity, but I still like it. Best with food. Good now. Glas stopper. - 89 points

Leithaberg is a special area on the south side of the sea? Hillside and a very chalky, marl soil. Fruitier, and black fruitier at that. Juicy and lively on the palate. Works it out at $40.

A business lunch (Jachthaven Hillegersberg, Rotterdam, NL): A beautifully clean, pure and natural expression of the grape variety; rich colour, fresh (6.2 gr/l TA) and transparent, bright cherry fruit, hint of spice, attractive bitters and a mineral finish. Lacks the weight and complexity however for a higher score.

Medium(+) purple, ruby at the rim, slow-moving narrow legs at 14.5% abv.Developing nose of black cherries, kirschwasser, oak. Dry, medium-medium(+) acidity, medium(-) tannins, medium(-) body, medium alcohol. Medium aromas of dark cherries, black currants, pepper. Concentrated, balance towards acidity, crunchy texture but not well structured. A rather hollow middle palate precedes a medium-long dry finish with sharp-ish edge.

Abundant sweetish fruit on the nose with raspberries and some boysenberries as well as a touch of florality. Medium bodied fruity palate with a slight bite of tannin on the backend palate. Some oak towards the mid-length finish. Intense sweetish berry fun, but that's it.

Weekly tasting group #007; A fully blind test plus 7 extra wines. (@ My place): Red as well as black fruits in the bouquet. Primary fruits on the palate. Mainly good cherries. Spices, pepper and minerals as well. Even though full bodied and concentrated, the wine is elegant as well. Still very youthful.
