  • (Pa@James, Albany) Light straw in glass. An almost-absent nose, with only the faintest hints of stone fruit and grass. Noticeably sweet, but balanced off beautifully with crisp acidity, with yet more green notes, soft tangerine/pomelo notes, showing some spritz and wet limestone. Gentle, yet concentrated, ending long with some white citrus pulp and elegant white flowers. No hints of age. Enjoyable on its own, well chilled, but also worked decently (perhaps not the best pairing) with our steamed Ile de Madeleine lobsters + bisque. Wonderful way to end 10 days together!

  • I'm really excited by this Finger Lakes Riesling. I imagine this would be amazing with fried chicken and fresh strawberry desserts.

  • Exceedingly good. Silky and full bodied combined with beautiful long lasting acidity and a complexity of taste and aroma notes. This wine is the epitome of class wine in the fingerlakes. Would be an exceptional bargain as a German spatlese. Find his wine, from this year

  • Really a nice treat. Very much as described before but on the second day the fruit profile og green apple and white peaches were quite lively. While not a German Spatlese, in many ways it is very similar with the exception that Weimer uses almost no sulfur, so there is no petrol on the nose. Very long finish and nice mouthfeel and texture.

  • I concur with most of the description above except with some more air time in the glass the fruit was more apparent on the nose. Then tangerine acidity and mineral back bone really made this a nice wine on the palate. Very little sulfur is used in this so no petrol going on but, held its own and maybe edged out an '09 St. Urbans-Hof Bockstein Spatlese. The St Urbans hot was markedly thicker and had more syrup which was a minus but had the longer of the 2 finishes, but the Wiemer was much cleaner and had a much better acid to it. It really was quite unique. The wine maker actually suggested a decant for this wine to ramp up its fruit profile, as it is extremely young.

  • Tasted at the winery. (4.5% RS). Medium yellow. Not much showing on the nose - glimpses of soft flowers, peach, peach pit, honey, ripe pear. Very sweet on the palate: honey, pear and spice. Nice mouthfeel. Nose - 4+/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 14.5+/20.
