This was our personal wine of the year for 2015. At the peak of maturity, fine tannins, full, lush, ripe black fruit aroma and taste, long finish. We've had other vintages, this was incredible!

From magnum; cork was saturated up to the last 1/2", so glad I opened this one now. A bit flat-tasting on the pop, this one really took off with some air. Big fruit on the nose and palate, quite sweet, with notes of black currant, plum and vanilla. A touch of violets coming through on the nose as well. Great wine, and one that has aged gracefully.

Enjoyed over 4 hours. First glass was p&pd with the remainder of the bottle sitting in the decanter during that time. Initial glass may have been a little warm with some alcohol peeking through. Bottle states its 13.5%. This claims to have 4% syrah in it but I would have guessed a much higher percent. There were times while I was drinking this I would have been completely convinced I was drinking a WA syrah. Overall very minimal tannins at this point. Very easy drinking with good fruit. Not many layers or complexity but very approachable and easy to drink. Dont know that I would seek it out again but wouldnt activity avoid it either.

Gave the afternoon in a decanter. Deep red-purple in the glass. Nose of soft dusty damp wood, herbs, cherry and black berry. Rich chocolate on the palate, and concentrated red fruit. Subtle notes of leather and spice. Thick without being heavy in body. Juicy without being a fruit bomb. Great structure and tannin foundation. Nice finish that doesn't go dry. Lovely blend with elegant Bordeaux quality.

Opened and drank with a short decant. Dense medium garnet color. Aromas of cassis, saddle leather, earth and cocoa. Nice fruit on the palate- blueberry, black cherry and currant met with tea, cedar, leather and dried herb flavors. Medium bodied with a smooth feel and light polished tannins . Nice medium length finish. Drinking almost like a Cru-Bourgeois Bordeaux of similar age, but with lighter tannins. Pair with leaner cuts of beef and drink over the next year.

I'm a real sucker for these Red Mountain Bdx blends---love new world wines made in old world styles.
This starts out extremely light. Took a solid three days in the bottle for this to fatten up, which alludes at its youth and structure. Extremely fragrant bouquet of sweet william flower, spicy red licorice, sour cherry, and toasted, savory vanilla oak. Awesome palate showing much the same, but underpinned by sweet cassis and tart berry. Long and broad in the mouth...that's what she said.
Drink now with a big ass decant or hold a few years. Awesome stuff. 90+ -JS

Opened and used Vinturi aerator. Ruby in color- deep and rich. Some clarity. Very pleasing bouquet- red currant, cherry, curry, clove, tea leaves, cedar, floral. Rich on the palate with satiny fruit notes currant, raspberry, and cherry; along with savory secondary notes of leather, tea, spice, and cedar. Solid ripe tannins that usher in long finishing notes of red fruit and mint (30+ seconds). Very solid, I really like this a lot, and look forward to further bottles down the road.

For me this hits all the right notes. The nose is floral, with just a hint of oak. The palate brings layers of dark cherries, currant and plums, along with grilled herbs, just the right amount of vanilla, and finally tobacco. Medium to full bodied and balanced from begining to end, with a nice long finish. Drinks well on its own or paired with any number of meat dishes. Would recommend.

We love this wine. A gift from a hotel concierge for our anniversary, and we feared the worst: Jammy Cola-confected André free-be plonk we almost left it in the room. How surprising that we found a luscious but sleek wine that is really the best of both worlds: elegant and full, firm but generous, structured yet free. Not necessarily my favorite style, but I respect this wine and enjoy it. I salute the Fairfax Hotel in DC for not pawning off token plonk on us.

A dark rich fruit- it reminds me of the Waters syrah in dark moonlight earth with blackberry purple fruit. A very bordeaux flavor profile, more earthy than the elegant dancing ones I've been drinking lately. Still young, very good.

Red Mountain Tour (Red Mountain, Washington): Rich red earth works well on the nose. It's combined with dark cherry scents, a bit of strawberry, and some good oak. It's elegant on contact with the oak being very well balanced. Softer texture shows with long slow acidity cleaning things up later. The fruit is primarily tart apples with cherries. Everything is very clean, and it all of the flavors linger long and enjoyably.

38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 51% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 4% Syrah. Decanted for 1+ hours before drinking. Nose of black fruits (cassis & blackberries) with vanilla and hints of cedar spice and cigars. The palate is definitely new world in style, with juicy blackberries and candied red fruits along with hints of vanilla up front. The mid-palate has a nice little zing of green-pepper before a very weak tobacco finish. Both the tannins and acidity were lower than expected and there was even some sediment in the bottle, which I am sure contributed to the lower body and weaker finish.
I like the bright fruit in this wine. Its new world but not over extracted and the added green pepper nuances make this a good wine. Unfortunately the lack of more structure, depth, and finish for a cab blend keep this wine from being great. The $30 price tag is also prohibitive, but if you can find it at $20 or under its a good deal.

This has many of the characteristics that make Washington wine attractive; flavorful ripe fruit, honest acidity, modest price. Sadly it also suffers from other characteristics that are all to prevalent in Washington wines; flavorful ripe fruit, heavy handed oak treatment, lack of balance or harmony, and a corporate/industrial sense of place.

Always like this bottling, but it gets tougher every year with the price rising. Softer and more approachable then it used to be. Lots of oak, and lots of that soft red WA fruit. Gets better with air. A very good bottle, and better then most of the wines Cali can throw out at this price point.

Initial whiff of leather before decanting. I've never had a red that smells this much like a smokey Chard; it's burnt popcorn with some coffee and vanilla in the background. The fruit is really suppressed on the nose. It's very tasty, though. The oak gives it a nice roundness that melts away on the finish. Oak tannin is fairly prominent. The gentle berry flavor and moderate alcohol is very attractive. Medium low acidity. Out of balance with the smokey oak, but really shows the quality of Washington Bdx varietals in the mouth.
Edit: More spicebox in the bouquet. I'd give it time for tannins and oak aromas to subside. Seems like it could show much better than good/very good in a few years. Tons of structure and concentration. Blows away most CA stuff at this price point.

Dark ruby purple color with a dense core. Cool and minty nose right after opening that changes to plum and roasted coffee mixed with dark fruits and spices. Acidic attack quickly followed by nice fruit and powdery tannins. Medium to full body. Smoky and lengthy finish. Has rounded out quite nicely by the next evening with fruit acquiring more of a creamy quality.

This is a fantastic value. Great nose, the merlot really comes through with a wonderful chocolate and cherry component. An earthiness to this that makes you immediately think Bordeaux, even though the presence of syrah disqualifies it (for now...).
Lovely mouth-feel, medium-bodied but smooth and supple. You think it's a little thin at first but then it rounds-out and delivers it's full weight. Nice savory element, which compliments the chocolate perfectly, giving it an wonderful almost salty-sweet sensation.
The finish is perfect - evolves, stays around, but doesn't overstay it's welcome. A truly wonderful wine that I'll definitely be picking up more of soon. A fantastic bargain at around $18.

I always love this wine, and this bottle was no exception. Let it breathe for about an hour in the bottle an dit was best in show between a 06 bordeaux (too young) and an Oberon Napa Cab (04.) The Napa Cab was best at first with nice buttery notes while at first taste after opening the Hedges was a bit tight and thin but alreayd showed good tanic structure and pleasant but not sweet fruit. Upon opening however it revealed the subtle sweet bright character I love about our favorite Gloria Sonoma Pinot Noir. Medium to long finish, good dark fruit, and the bright acidity was well balanced with some slightly sweet fruit on the fore but a nice dry finish on the end.
