Dusty nose of faded big red fruit, dark ink in the glass, now a velvety elixir of cassis and kirsch on the palette. Thick and velvety with a sweet core of fruit, tannins soft and smooth, and though the vibrancy of fruits now gone, the wine is elegant and rich. Medium finish with hints off vanilla spice on the finish.

Still drinkable, but seems to be well past it’s prime. No real fruit noticeable on the palate, mostly just an oaky woody taste. Will update if it improves tomorrow after vacuum corking tonight.

Very dark red color. PNP, drank 1+ glass over 90 minutes. Still has some fruit, cassis and plum, but the wood seems determined to obscure things. This was better A couple years ago.

A little woody and oaky, with a slight bite to the tannins, but otherwise a decent Napa Cab. Not as good as some previous vintages of Captain's Reserve, but not bad for the price.

Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over the course of 90 minutes. Nose shows a mix of cassis, red fruits, some savoriness, spice and oak. The palate is medium full bodied with good depth and nice ripe cassis and red berries, sweet fruit essence, nice wood, dust, spiced finish with some oak on the end, everything is nicely resolved and integrated at this point, medium finish. Drink over the next 2 years. 90+pts.

Parent's Anniversary Dinner (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Very dark red color. Decanted for an hour and a half. Drank 2 glasses over 2 hours. This showed quite well. Very nice fruit on the nose, cassis, cherry, vanilla, and spices. The palate is medium-full bodied, tasty, ripe cassis, cherry vanilla, spice and light oak and subtle green pepper on a medium plus finish. This got better ion my opinion even after the decant. 90+pts.

Decanted for 90 mins. Rutherford aroma to it. Smell of black fruit as the nose approached the glass. Dark red in the middle and really light red around the edges.
A little thin on the front palate. I expected this to be a little more round and full towards the rear palate but it consistently ended up thin. The taste of alcohol was clearly prevalent in the finish. Each glass left me hanging for more.
Light legs on the glass.
No change in the wine during dinner while it continued breathing.
Based on my previous experience with Inglenook's Captain's Reserve Cab I expected this 2008 to match the quality of the vintage. Still have another bottle of the 2008 but I will want to compare this to the 2007s and 2006s of the Captain's Reserve I have in my cellar to see if the 2008 is either declining, in a holding period, or just an "eh" bottle.

Very full-bodied with a lot of fruit, including notes of cherry; it holds together beautifully with only slight flabbiness and bit too much alcohol at the finish.

This is exceptional Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon that did not disappoint. Intense nose of ripe blackberry and cherry undernotes along with coffee anddusty earth. Full strength on the palate as expected with nicely rounded tannins that finish with a very firm pucker. Acidity to match the richness of the body and intensity of the flavors. The finish has some cigar box cedar along with tobacco

Enjoyed this. Classic dusty berry cab nose. Tons of sweet ripe fruit on the start, transitioning to lingering tannins. Firm, with just a touch of astringency.

Just got this wine today and was very happy with it. Going to cellar the other 2 for now. I think it will probably improve over the next few years. From first pour showed some real intense berry. Not too hot with strong blackberry nose that comes out immediately from the pour. I like the vanilla flavors coming from the French oak (assume it to be French oak). Nice long finish which i expect to improve over time as it softens. Once again I really like what Inglenook is doing.

Winemakers comments: the 20078 Captain's reserve Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a deep magenta hue and a exquiste fragrance of crushed wild blackberries and anise touched by the sweetscent of cigar box and vanilla toasted oak. Well structured with dramatic flavors of cherry liqueur, blueberries and cassis, each impression is made more intriguing by spice notes and a long voluptuous finish.
