In magnum format. Terrific with Vosne spice, flowers and darkish red fruit. It was structured and ethereal with medium plus attack. The sweetness was penetrating. A very good Echezeaux from a great vintage. 93+

Cellared since release. Burgundy lunch June 21, 2023. Decanted 45 minutes. Minimal sediment Deep garnet color with brown at the rim. Complex, very developed, and pleasing nose of red fruit, Souis Bois, and a slight floral component. Rich, beautifully aged red and black fruit with excellent mid-palate stimulation, and soft tannins. There was a spicy finish that went on and on, for more than 45 seconds. This was a tremendously complex and pleasing wine in every dimension, and showed more development that most 2010’s I’ve had. It was voted the wine of the tasting, and has at least 3-5 years of pleasurable drinking ahead.
95 points.

Just a bit wild, with plenty of sauvage character. It has some freshly grated ginger and bright cherry fruits. There’s good density and underlying minerality. It feels like it has shut down.

On nose: med+ intensity, dry red cherry, red flower: rose, very good use of oak, spiciness, tobacco, tea leaves, earthiness, really a big one, very pleasant.
On palate : dry, obviously high acidity, medium+ flavour intensity, med alcohol, very fine tannin, earthiness and oak spiciness flavour is impressive, some rustic green flavour could be found. The sour cherry acidity can still be found at the back and throughout the finishing which construct a good backbone of this wine. Very elegant and be loved by everyone of us in the tasting.
We opened an high grade Brunello di Montalciino to compare, the acidity is more obvious and cleaner than the Italian one. Surprisingly, this wine is good match with smoky flavour potato chips . After opened up for 2 and half hrs, the rustic green flavour was gone, we should wait more time instead to get the greatest flavour condition. But anyway, this is a premium one and enjoyable. Drink it now or hold it for 5 more years without any doubts. Cheers!

World of Pinot Noir Burgundy Seminar (Bacara - Goleta CA): Tasted single blind alongside Jadot 2001 Chambertin-Clos de Beze. Lots of spice and red and black berries on nose and palate with subtle structure, making it come across as forward and already accessible today.

lovely ripe black and red fruit on the nose along with pretty Asian spice and touch of earth and oak. Vibrant palate with a classical yet modern feel. Excellent grip on the medium finish. Nice now but will improve.

Excellent ++

This medium red/garnet wine was tasted in double-blind fashion with our Friday tasting group. The bottle was generously provided by K.A. Sleek and vibrant, it shows aromas and flavors of ripe cherry, grapefruit, lavender and Asian spices. Medium-bodied, fresh and with medium-weight, supple tannins, it gathers speed in the middle and concludes with a lengthy, tart finish. This has all the makings of something special, but needs cellar time to harmonize the components. It may merit a higher score in the future. Drink 2016-2022.

Similar to previous notes, but this time decanted for four hours before consuming over next 90 minutes. The extra air really helped this both reveal more nuance and knit together. 92+

Pop and pour. Red cherry, oak spice and lavender with saline minerality bright acidity and a moderately firm tannic finish. High quality French oak is quite noticeable on the nose, but thankfully more discreet on the palate. Medium body with nice intensity, sinuous flesh, yet weightless. Quite accessible already, especially with food, but plenty of upside potential. 91+

Marcassin vs Aubert: Starts out being quite evolved and completely falls apart the more air it gets.
It must have been a defective bottle.

Ripe, full and sweet. Next to the 09 VV, this was more red fruit, floral and thinner.
