At the end of its drinking window, but not oxidised. Very sweet toffee, quite hot with a slight burn from the alcohol on the finish as the fruit recedes. Really not my style at all, but some will love this butter toffee, sweet tropical fruited style, now mature with a glycerin rich mouth feel.

Still drinking remarkably well. Beautiful golden color. Not too buttery. But a nice creamy mouthfeel nonetheless. Have one left, will drink in next 6mos or so.

Tropical and buttery while nicely balanced. Not overly flamboyant for a CA Chardonnay. Worked well with a pairing of chicken tortelloni with braised collard geeens and cow peas.

shared with pat at selkirk manor. celebrating summer solstice. passed over this wine several times due to lack of feedback from others and reputation for longevity from this producer. the wine proved to be in sound condition. paired with baked halibut. slightly golden color. fragrant nose. lots of yellow fruit on the palate. well integrated oak. some toastiness. light acidity. strong finish. wish i had bought more although i don't think i would hold onto this much longer. an eight year run for a cali chard is pretty good.

Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of brown spices, yellow pears and yellow apples. Flavors of yellow pears, yellow apples, lemon spritz and a hint of creme. Medium acidity, full bodied. Drink or hold.

Grand White Tasting (Private Residence): Wine of the night for many, this Hobbs chardonnay has very complex bouquet of peaches, spices, new oak, and citric elements. The palate is just as beautiful and finishes on the lengthier side. Outstanding job on this wine.

Different type of Hobbs Chardonnay. Crisp apple flavor with a subtle touch of oak, butter and lemon. Wine nicely opens up after 30 minutes in room temperature. Very nice, but not the best Hobbs Chardonnay I ever had.

PnP served double-blind. As a former list member (seems so long ago), I thought I'd gotten over the PH's wines as I found them a bit too formulaic and more made than grown. But this effort speaks to the challenges of the vintage and the obvious care given to the fruit instead of the wood, etc. Very fresh, nicely balanced and a solid example of RRV Chard - something I didn't expect to find myself admitting. To be clear though, this does not tread in the guilty pleasure territory, something I try to avoid at all costs these days. In a riper vintage, I feel nothing would have stood out, something I can say having been on the list from '04-'08. The 14,4% is well integrated as is the oak. Best during the next 4-5 years. Group #1, my #2

Very pretty, very fresh, well-balanced. Honeyed, peachy, some oakiness but it stops short of buttery. I'd like more drive, more acid, but I'm sure it will be on point for most.

This held up nicely. Tropical fruit with lemon curd and toasted macadamia. Probably some good declassified grapes in here.

This needs about 45 min to open up. Full bodied, with apparent oak and some heat. Average finish and value.

Powerful nose of oak, toffee and melon. Oak and tropical fruit in a full body, oak also on a deft finish - clean but not buttery or tart.

Wonderful wine! Paired with steamed lobster. One of our top 5 all time Chardonnays. Will not share the remaining bottles.

Complex, not at all buttery/oaky. Gorgeous apple and pear notes on the palate. Medium finish. Had at Post 390 in Boston.
