Chili, BBQ, Syrah and Other Things With River Rat (Brian Tuite's Backyard): Poured blind as part of a 6 wine syrah flight. Distinct aromatic, funky and leathery, a kind of horse saddle thing. Very cool and interesting to smell this wine. Balanced and approachable, juicy with same sweet leather, bright acid, tarry, soy and steak sauce and a touch of sweet fruit in the finish.

This wine is entering it's prime drinking period and should continue to drink well for at least the next 5 years. Decant for at least an hour before drinking.

Pure silk. The nose had tons of red berries, raspberry compote, slight meatiness, and subdued pepper. The taste was soft and silk with medium-full body. The notes on the pallet matched the nose perfectly with maybe a hint of chocolate. The wine needed about 30 minutes to open up, and it was gone within an hour after that. Awesome stuff.

Popped and poured, drank over 2 nights, refrigerated in between. Nose is pleasing: savory dark fruit predominant. On the palate, not as exciting. Fruit sort of evaporates quickly, with finish a bit tart. Didn't dislike it, but didn't love. Am hopeful the next 2 bottles age well.

The cork was fine, no problems with the bottle that I could tell. I really wanted to like this bottle, considering the poor showing last year from another bottle. It wasn't good the first day, didn't improve the second day, got dumped the third day. Very muted nose. The back end of this just got too pruney, bitter, bad tasting. My wife couldn't get past a 2nd taste either night. Yeesh, hoping for better from the other vineyard bottles. Bottles direct from winery.

Decanted three hours. Took a bit of coaxing to get the aromas from the glass. Not quite as fragrant as I'd expect. Subtle smoke and spice notes with some dark anise and touches of fresh road tar, and charred meat. The palate is more expressive but still really soft and lower in complexity than I'd expect. Dark berries, some baking spice and gray pepper corns. Moderate alcohol and acidity. Very balanced, very smooth. Just unfortunate the nose was so muted.

This wine is great right now but will be phenomenal in a few years. This wine is built like an ogre, many many layers. This wine starts off with olives, bloody meat, and blackberries. As the wine breathes the the raw meat becomes a nice juicy grilled steak, with the dark fruits coming forward a little bit more. After 3 hours in the glass the wine is singing with everything in balance with the red and black fruits sharing the palatte with refined tannins balancing the acid. The next day just added more depth to the wine. I recommend doing a slow-ox on this wine for 3-4 hours within the next year. However the journey was amazing to get to that conclusion. Enjoy!

2 hr decant. Got the Myriad Quivet shipping notice so decided to open this. WOW nose, black and blue fruits, olives, floral notes and herbs. Medium plus palate with blackberry, currant, smoked meats, and herbs. Long silky finish. :)

Love Mike and Leah's wines first of all. This one, though still very young, worked well with wild caught salmon. Popped and poured. It could have used air as would be expected but couldn't do that under the time constraints we were under. Pleasure to drink. Excellent fruit and nicely crafted.

This wine is still a baby with lots of upside. An extremely well wine that needs several years to enter its prime or at least 12 hours of decanting to show well. I'm sure that I have several bottles left that's for sure.

Popped and poured. Deep, youthful purple hue. Pronounced, perfumed nose filled with the essence of blackberry, smoked spices, and an intriguing herbaceous note. With air, the fruit seemingly expands and a wonderful floral note gives the impression of rosebuds. Medium to medium-plus body. On the palate, the blackberry and black cherry fruit is certainly pronounced on the front but quickly gives way to notes of of mineral-laden smoked herbs. The tannins, while just a touch chalky, are amazingly silky and refined on the moderate-plus close. An outstanding Syrah, this is drinking splendidly off the pop but will undoubtedly blossom into something special over the next few years. Great juice!

Distinctive olive notes on the nose. Good acidity. Saddle/leathery notes. Could go longer but great now.

Drinking nicely now. Did have a little sediment. Drank at BBQ and did not take notes.

Popped and poured. Nice fruit profile with a bit of a sharp edge on the finish. Enjoyed this more than my last bottle.

Way too young right now. If you must open one in the next couple years, give it a good decant...I'd say at least 6 hours.
