  • Another disappointment from Delas, one wonders why their wines don’t age. This had some oxidative notes and didn’t improve with air. The least favorite wine at dinner. Some Syrah fruit but not enough complexity - tar, smoke, bacon, pepper - to live up to Crozes Hermitage or the epic 2010 vintage. I should think such a wine should last 13 years!

• Very nice, but I have come to expect more from Delas. Not a bad QPR.

  • Spicy and peppery (classic crozes) followed by big blackberry fruit and grilled meats. Slightly improves with air as the peppercorn fades off and the fruit becomes more dominate.

  • I bit thin and uninteresting. Tannin dominates the finish.

  • This deep-to-opaque ruby wine is effusive of dark bramble fruit, smoked meat, anise and mineral aromas. On the palate, it is full-bodied, freshly acidic and lusciously filled with flavors mirroring the nose. The medium-weight tannins are supple and the alcohol (listed as 13%) is beautifully integrated. Dense in the middle and accenting the flavors with restrained oak, it closes with impressive length. Absolutely gorgeous now, this is a wine that should "sing" for another five years (or more). Drink now-2021.

  • Dark color, opaque core, reddish violet rim; nose is suffering just a bit from the chill but shows its youth, some new French oak, and ripe darker fruit from the vintage; the palate is where this wine shines with sauvage, plum, dark berry, iron, a bit of blood, granite, black pepper, and a muscular structure showing some dusty mineral on the finish; considered by my drinking partner as resembling Sonoma Syrah this did not show the glycerin or menthol, higher alcohol, and too much acidic freshness to be NW; delicious with some upside potential; really solid.
