Nice texture and soft tannins, but the flavor profile is all at the high end (bordering on citrus) without the bass notes of blue/black fruits, chocolate or cedar that I expect from a good cabernet.

Similar to before with black cherry and currant with a nice creamy texture to it. Big core of earth, tar, and licorice notes, smooth tannins, long finish.

Black cherry and currant with subtle tar and earth notes. Firm tannins, long finish. Tasted against the '07 version of this wine and although this is fantastic, I think I still like the '07 slightly better at this point.

The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are fast. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like prune, strawberry jam, cherry, mineral, coffee, nutmeg and violet. It tastes like black currant (cassis), strawberry jam, cherry, forest floor, mineral, vanilla, nutmeg and tobacco. The body is medium. The wine has linear texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has high acidity. This wine aged very quickly. It tastes like a much older wine. Through its years it has lost most of its finish. It falls short and loses its depth. Drink this wine now.

Coravin, using large pours into each stem t0 capitalize on air. Rose liked this a lot. Bright blue fruit, pine needles, tar on the nose. Watery profile with fine gritty tannins briefly coating more ripe black and blue fruit. Comes across like a cab-franc lacking in pepper. Easy drinker that went nicely w King Salmon, this is a food-friendly wine that would readily pair with almost anything.

Very similar to our tasting note from the winery. This is a very approachable and (red) fruit-forward modern Napa cab and will appeal to those who enjoy the style. My wife LOVED this and gave it a 94 (although drinking this after a full day of moving and unpacking may have had something to do with it).

Enjoyed at Zambrano's Wine Cellar in FW. This wine is incredible. Made up of over 80 percent cab with the remainder being merlot, CF, and PV I believe. The first bottle was actually corked. Cork itself was musty as could be - the second cork really had no aroma at all despite the medium density garnet red stain. The nose out of the bottle was all dark fruit with a smoky character. Kind of locked up. Was not decanted. The wine was poured a dark red into the glass. Nose in the glass was dark fruit, a bit more smoke, mild leather, quite a bit of spice with some kind of herbaceous undertone. The wine on the entry was soft, delicate, with great blackberry and hint of blueberry fruit up front. Mildly herbaceous. There was some sweet characteristic - couldn't tell if it was vanilla because sometimes this citrus type of herbal coriander seemed to show up. This is still a young wine, yet seemed at times to already be very well integrated as the front and mid kind of wrapped into one, moreso as the bottle opened over an hour. Lots of things going on here - extremely layered for a young wine. Finished with more of a cinnamon pie spice. 20 second finish. Soft tannins. Wonderful wine now, but this one will improve surely over time. I think if the spice died a little, it would uncover some more characteristics. The layers don't have much time to unwind before the spice dominated. Probably a solid 94/95 in 3-4 years, but this one will likely keep for at least another 7 years.

Honeymoon Wine Tasting; 6/25/2012-7/3/2012 (California - Napa & Sonoma Counties): Tasted at Winery. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cab Franc, 10% Merlot; from 7 different vineyards. The color was somewhat light for a cabernet-based wine, but the strong aromas of red fruit and flowers showed the fruit-forward nature of this wine. Additional flavors of blueberry and raspberry melded well with silky smooth tannins. This was very smooth and easy drinking for a cab, while still possessing firm yet silky tannins. Very impressive at this price point. Drink now or hold for a couple years.

Paired beautifully with New York strip steak, mushrooms, avocado & blue cheese-dressed grilled Romaine. Disappeared in short order.

Deep and sumptuous. Cedar, leather and a hint of raspberry. Just enough to this to be chewy.

Reminded me of previous vintages, but seemed a little more polished. Still dense and rich with as nice long finish.
