Green gold colour, rich slightly funky nose with lees notes. Concentrated densely extracted melange of fruit that is citrus accented with a bit of warmth form the high alcohol. Moderate length finish with perhaps slight hint of bitterness right at the end. A hint of butter popcorn/lipstick as esters. no signs of peak development yet, can go another 5 years easy. My last bottle. The best thing about this is the full mouthweight/density. The lacking thing is the fruit isn't quite up to the job of providing tertiary interest or complexity.

Initially lemon and slight floral notes then gains some peachiness, butter, cream, honey and toast. In the mouth it's got juicy acid, lemon and peach, butter, alcohol warmth and a a little mid palate burr. Medium plus length. the alcohol is a little high for the wine but otherwise nice.

cheeky half bottle begged my attention when I was pottering around in the storage so I tucked the little fellow into my pocket upon departure. Unlike earlier tastings this one came across as quite blowsy but with sufficient acid to keep things clean. Straying more into figs, spice and peaches than citrus, with some butter and the oak becoming more discernible. Bit flashy though that could have been the earlier Meursaults...

Very typical example of Lake's Folly Chardonnay. The acidity remains quite bright and is balanced with nice oak which gives a strong structural element to the wine. The fruit is peach, nectarine and grapefruit, with a creamy element in the background. Its maturing but not ageing. Drink now or keep for a couple of years.

Excellent, classic LF, 14% all. Barrel ferment, 1/3 new French oak, lees stirring. Colour: pale gold Bouquet: melon, white peach, vanilla oak Palate: as bouquet, citrus, touch of caramel, flinty but rich creamy texture, very sharp uplifted acid, fullish bodied, long clean finish. Big alcohol is very well balanced by fruit and acid. Has a few years which would soften the acid. February 2017

Right out of the top drawer... I love this Chardonnay. Quite flinty with citrus fruits. Glad I have one more as I think it has a bit of gas left in the tank.

Lovely wine, quite forceful and good with food. Initially a very slight whiff of matchstick but lovely peach fruit. A tiny bit of caramel on the palate to start with but the wine is very well balanced across the palate with very good length. Quite luscious and a nice finish. Quality oak in support. May be a touch on the ripe side to last a long time, but under screwcap should hold for years yet.

Lovely structured wine. Nice balance between the fruit, oak and acidity. Peaches and nectarines with a creamy element, Nice length to support it all. Still has a good future.

From half bottle. Lemon citrus, spice oak, slight butter and slight bitterness. Long. Hmm, it's a bit out of whack and disjointed. Not sure if time is going to help - four years in a half bottle should have seen some progress.

Chardonnay tasting at Ultimo (Ultimo wine centre (but now vintage cellars)): Initially aromas of fresh podded pea, slight cream and quite muted stone fruits and citrus. In the mouth juicy acidity, spicy with slight butter notes. Quite tangy fruit. Medium plus length. I think this should have been earlier in the line up as it is quite subtle. Hmm.

Hunter Wineries (2) - Broke Rd: {screwcap, 14%, A$65} Youthful but fully-worked nose of nuts and figs underpinned by a yeasty/leesy base. It has a medium/full-body spicy palate, but still boasts a fine acid cut. Lots of texture here; the fruit does play second fiddle to the acid just now. Lingering presence of fruit on the mid-palate; the wine is medium/full-bodied and finished long and dry. Expect a long life.

Mid development. Really nice. Just a level below excellent. At 14% the alcohol is poking through and obvious unfortunately. Detracts slightly.

Still very young and I worry that it will never come round, lovely structure and very good but not overwhelming

Lake's Folly Birthday lunch (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): Lemon, green apple, cedar, sweet spice, zesty acidity, citrus, a little butter and sweet spice, very fresh, medium plus length, sharp and Chablisesque. Hides it's alcohol well.

Notes borrowed from TiggerK
Coiled and reticent. Oak well integrated, no reductive notes. Just needs time to unleash it's potential, could be quite something when it does.
Wish I had a lot more of this.
