Tasted blind against a 2010 Alain Voge Cornas. Dark ruby purple color turning violet at the rim. The nose is off-putting with pungent, multi-dimensional aromas of animal fat, espresso and leather on dark berries. The palate is full-bodied with savory acidity that lifts the ripe blackberry compote core all the way to the long, silky finish with hints of black balsam and spicy black pepper. Delicious! Drink now until 2035. 95 Pts.

Tastes like lighter fluid. Bubbly and may be undergoing MLF. I would call this a flawed bottle, but after a run of 2011,2012 and 2013 Stolpman wines, all of which are undrinkable, it is not just this bottle!

Dark Red fruit on the nose, soft but present tannins, drinks better after 10 minutes but after 30 it loses its structure and finish. End of drinking window.

Tanzer compared this to la Landonne. Not that I've actually had any, but I don't think this is quite at that level. Quite good, though, and interesting. Theme was Syrah or Shiraz, blind. No one could quite place this. There was a No Girls and a Chave Hermitage on the table, Angeli held its own. Decanted for a couple of hours. Dark, no signs of age. Bright, complex nose, matched by a palate with a whole lot going on. Red and black fruit, licorice, spice, good balance. Long finish. Didn't taste French, not an Aussie fruit bomb, or a good Aussie Shiraz, it is its own thing. I'll let the other bottle age at least another couple of years.

Boy do I wish I had more of this wine. Deep dark red opaque. Nose had red berry and cherry some oak. Taste was superb, very smooth, with great structure and oaky berries, long finish, far and away the best syrah I have ever had.

Black wine with violet edges. Nose of black olives (Givi analyzed this!). Notes of blueberries, blackberries, oak, with peppery briar entering in the end palate and lasting a very long time. Lovely soft tannins. Should have another six years of drinkability at minimum.

Tasted blind; double-decanted over the course of a day. Super inky purple color. The nose is very powerful with coffee and tar elements. Deliciously sweet and concentrated cherry with strong alcohol. Black pepper and coffee on the finish. Many years to go yet.

Let me begin by saying I bought this based on the CT rated and the great price I found it for ($36). I think it may have been mispriced. In any regard, I cut the capsule to find there had been leakage. The wine crept up much of the cork on all sides. Seeing this I was concerned, and upon opening a whiff of funk found my nose. A scent of barnyard or bad cork.
Giving the wine a chance, I continued to sip. Over the course of the next hour it changed more than I've ever experienced a wine change before, at least that I can remember.
The color is of a slight ruby. Highly fragrant, with notes of strawberries and raspberries. Something about it reminds me of Alban Vineyards Pandora 2005. On the palate there is a mix of both red and dark berries. The best I could come up with on the red notes is something like a tomato, but that does not do it justice. As I tried to hone in on the red notes I only noted stronger dark notes of plum, prune and perhaps a hint of licorice.

Now that I've had a couple of years experience with various syrahs it's great to taste this again and confirm it's just the wine I thought it was. Excellent.

Opened a little earlier than recommended. Used Venturi to decant. Served with ground turkey, turmeric, cumin, garlic & shallots. So good! I'm glad I have 2 more bottles.

Brought to a group wine dinner. Nice when you then great QPR for a $60 bottle. This is a very deep, velvety, complex, aromatic. Cassis and black plum and raspberry, tilled earth, sweet minerals. Will certainly profit from some cellar time, but darn nice now if you have an extra.
