Straw colored and 14.5% ABV. Nose of freshly cut grass, citrus and lemon curd. Tart with tons of acidity. Rich and thick mouthfeel. Grapefruit, pears, melon and spice on the palate. Missing a little bit of the lushness I often associate with a Rochioli Sauvignon Blanc. Drink this summer.

Hay color. Medium intensity nose, kiwi fruit, melon, green bean. On arrival, soft acidity and somewhat waxy. Flavors mineral and melon fruit-oriented; where's that suave grapefruit and tangy acidity hiding ? Wish we hadn't overpaid for a second bottle. Drink up.

Pop-n-pour. Intense grapefruit at first. Lots of swirl and time coaxed a more complex and less tart set of flavors. We will allow the next bottle to rest in the glass significantly longer for air and to achieve a temperature more like 60 before enjoying. 89-ish

Medium yellow color. Aromas of sweet grapefruit, pineapple, and passionfruit. Kiwi, grapefruit, and meyer lemon on the palate with a slightly alcoholic medium finish. Still drinking well and holding in its youthful exuberance. Drink.

Something went wrong here - secondary fermentation, harsh. Weird, because the last bottle I had was very good, and they both came straight from the winery. Oh well. Such is life with wine in the age of cork closures.

Pale yellow. Grapefruit and green pea nose, with some oak. Medium acidity. Neither racy nor fat, this bottle is far more warm climate and mainstream in style than I'd have expected from JRV. Good fig and lime flavors, finishes with more tartness than on entry. I miss the old style of extremely racy grapefruit with little oak. Bottle #1 of one.

Light gold with a slight green cast. Clean and refreshing with backbone. Maybe its the mindset suggested by the color, but you get green pear, green apple, green grass, and lime. Crisp finish.

14.5% alcohol. Crisp and refreshing, with pretty citrus, grass, melon, and mineral notes on the nose. In the mouth, you really can tell the ripeness of the wine, but it's pretty and clean. Bright acidity and a strong finish. A-

Straw colored. Fruity aromas of pineapple, kiwi, melon, and sweet herbs. Pineapple, quince, and kiwi dominate a palate that has a lemon-pineapple finish that is long and acidic. This is showing very well right now. Drink.

Medium yellow in the glass. Aromas of pear, melon, and sweetly-scented flowers. On the palate, this shows sweet gooseberry, ripe pear, ripe green melon, and slight tropical (starfruit?) notes. Medium finish. Alcohol starts to show up if sipping without food. A consistent performer from Rochioli. Drink.

14.5% alcohol. Crisp and pretty, with a fragrant nose of citrus, freshly cut grass, and minerals. In the mouth, more plush on the palate than the nose might betray, with expansive citrus and tropical fruit notes, a nice mineral note, and refreshing acidity. In a good place now. A-

Beautiful fresh citrus flavors, nice acidity, very well balanced. Reminds me of some of the Rochioli SBs from the early to mid 1990's. Refreshing, very food friendly.

14.5% ABV. Medium straw colored in the glass. Light fig and lemon curd nose. Medium bodied with a suggestion of minerals and tangy-sweet lemon. Seems to improve a bit as it opens. Nice richness and a better than average finish. Stylistically different from, say Grey Stack or Merry Edwards, being a little more round and a bit more ripe, but very tasty and the best Rochioli SB I've tasted in a while. 91-92.

Very pale gold. Grass and grapefruit on the nose, tangy acidity with heavy grapefruit and an almost bitter aspect to the palate. There are better SB's (Peter Michael, Araujo, Rudd all come to mind) but this is not bad and a bit more reasonably priced than those.

Very fresh, with good acidity, but some nice roundness too. Pears, grapefruit, green apples, and some lil' white flowers in there. Best when nicely chilled, as I think the alcohol pokes through a bit much when warmer. Good stuff.

14.5% alcohol. The youthful edge to this wine is still present, but it's working itself out. Green-yellow color. Lovely nose of citrus and tropical fruit, with a slightly sharp grassy edge to it. In the mouth, racy and balanced, without the tinge of bitterness that the 2008 had on the finish. A very pretty wine with strong concentration. A-

Still on the young side. A touch of grass comes in with the grapefruit on the nose. A bit brawny and precocious on the palate as of now, with powerfully concentrated flavors and strong acidity. Smoother and more endearing on the finish than the 2008. B+/A-

Notes from RRV Barrel Tasting 2010: Intense nose of cut grass and grapefruit, deep, intense flavors, bit of sweetness, similar in many ways to the Grey Stack SB, a little too over the top for me. Those that prefer this style will love this wine.
