This is a predominantly Merlot blend with 14.5% abv. The wine was decanted for 3h before tasting. The nose betrays the Mitjavile touch, in a “In Your Face” baroque style, but racy and classy, with bewitching scents of cherry brandy, leather, cigar box, cedar, a bit of vanilla and a hint of truffle. Medium-bodied, the palate mixes the flavors of very ripe and juicy dark fruits (close your eyes for a moment and imagine yourself biting into a black plum just fallen from the tree, at the extreme limit of rotting and yet still incredibly fresh), tobacco, graphite and the very beginning of autumnal tertiary notes. It's longer than wide, rather straight, with material that I expected muscular and corpulent but which finally seems to be woven into fine lace. The balance is masterful and the wine finishes very very long on earthy, graphite and smoky nuances. Wow! This is stunning and in a great spot right now! [Photo on Instagram]

Wine dinner with friends. Decanted for 5h. This was our WOTN amongst some highly anticipated bottles! Our notes from 2018 mostly hold. A little less funk on the nose this time. The structure was well balanced, with both acid and tannins fully integrated and supporting the intense, complex flavors and full mouthfeel very well. As predicted, this is aging very well. Arguably peaking now, but should hold very well for another 10 years. Drink now to 2032. Outstanding 96.

Ruby red, clear meniscus, no bricking. Pretty red floral notes, red cassis, black tea on the nose; fruit forward palate of red berries, dry leather. Grippy tannins. Short finish, or would have rated higher. Drink now.

Still fairly dark red-purple tending to ruby. Not especially showing loads of age. Notes of freshly picked blackberries. Peppermint tea. Toast. Dark fruits. Medium-full. Fresh mouthwatering acidity - so for me, this had a good freshness nicely balanced with right bank merlot generosity. Not too much though. Seemed to have a Cabernet or left bank streak. Really long. Still quite a tannin backbone, which suggests much further age potential. Drinking well now though. Just lovely. So well balanced.

Deep ruby, with some thick legs. A pretty intense floral nose, with ripe blackberry and some greenish leaves. Tannins pretty high yet quite rounded and silky, some weight, and intense cassis and floral flavours, some greens, liquorice, and hint of cloves n cinnamon. Finish was medium length at best though

Pretty modern in style, oaks were noticeable both on the nose and on the palate, personally I was okay with that but might not be for everyone. Decent length for the vintage, good balance overall.

A bit on the modern side of things for now, richer and still with a lot of oak in the forefront. A baby Tertre for sure but much like its older brother from St Emilion at this young age is more for the fruit forward loving new world followers. 89 for now but with the stuffing to go a long way we felt.

4-hour decant. Pours inky garnet with a light brown rim. Fine sediment in the last few mL. KILLER nose. Constantly evolving, phasing through various combinations of plums, fig preserve, dried blackcurrant, baking spices, graphitic soil, dark cocoa, wet leaves, blueberry, and honest-to-goodness maduro cigar wrapper. Suggestions of funkier aromas are present, but they do not dominate. This wine manages to twist the substantial alcohol content to its advantage in the velvety, warm entry. Chocolatey blue fruits, creme de cassis, umami, spices, graphitic mineral, and more on the palate. Plush, viscous, and beautifully ripe. Slightly angular acid and creamy tannins provide needed contrast to the indulgent profile. Goes for a very, very long time.
A phenomenal bottle! The most successful marriage of Old and New World styles that we have experienced. Should age easily for 5-10 years, but so, so enjoyable right now. "Outstanding," 95/100.

What a nose! Dill Pickle, Dark Chocolate, sauerkraut, I opened it 2 hours ago and not much going on taste wise yet but I am in love with the aromatics.

Tasted after the 2010. Less ripe and well structured in comparison, quite dense, spicy nose, a little green. Decent length, a little drying. This is quite good, but suffers a little following on from the 2010. 88-90

A beautifully ripe nose of blackberry, raspberry, cassis, leather and truffle lead way to a sweet medium bodied palate that is full of black cherry, oak and spice flavors that linger ever so pleasantly on the finish. Modern in style for sure but also darn good.

Blind tasting of 2011 and 2012 red Bordeaux. Soft and ripe on the nose - spices, red and dark fruit, oak. On the palate more generous than most of the 2011s so far, well balanced with round tannins and good length. Not the most complex but really well made. 89-91
Rond et très mûr, réglisse et boisé, on dirait un vin du nouveau monde à ce stade. Très belle texture et équilibre impeccable, mais pas mon style au niveau aromatique. Ça devrait se corriger avec les années, les tanins sont très fins. 90 (+?)

Sweaty leather, truffle, underbrush, cassis and blackberry underneath with smoke and dark cherry--a haunting perfumey musk; rich, somewhat creamy. slightly soft textured; long finish with granite minerality. Clearly some good pedigree/winemaking going on here, even if it is a bit Modern in style. Liked it better this round with a whole bottle at my disposal.

Blackberry, cassis, cocoa, rich mouth, leather with a touch of ferns; BIG, NW style, chewy, with some baking spice-oak. Quick notes from a quick vendor tasting.

70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc open to leafy, blackberry, coffee and earth aromas. This interesting wine ends with an earthy, herbal, black cherry finish. 88-89 Pts
