Tasted blimd. Quite muted on the nose and on the palate. I was opened and decanted a couple of hours prior but it’s just nowhere near ready. Faint notes of tobacco, black fruit and eucalyptus, tannins are still quite dry. I’d say wait… at least five years.

Ready to go Pomerol charmer. The wine is medium-bodied and already displaying its earthy, bright red berry, vibrant, floral character. The soft finish delivers more earthy, red fruit nuances. Drink from 2023-2030.

Hello Lovely, where have you been all night??? This is downright fucking Bordeaux. Deep, beautiful balance of dark fruit, earth, blood, and cold clay. This is why I pop corks. To catch an underdog like this in its prime. This wowed me over and over. The best 2011 I have had yet! Find some. DRINK!

Dark purple color with clear ruby rim. Nose of dried black fruit and some earthiness/barnyard in the secondary. High tannins initially but subside after an hour decanted. Medium plus body with good acidity. Palate was of plums an blackberries with good oak and vanilla. Some earth/truffle came in towards the end finishing in a very silky mouthfeel of lusciousness. Excellent Pomerol.

Note de janvier dernier s'applique totalement.

Excellent nose, drank over two hours after one hour decant. Didn't open as expected from initial bouquet as fruit remained dark and closed on palate. Still a very nice bottle.

The nose was dark with musky animal tones up front, followed by blackberry, cherry and sweet spice. On the palate, I found silky, almost creamy textures, giving way to sweet-and-sour red and blueberry fruits, savory herbs and a hint of grippy tannin. The finish was long, as firm tannin mounted, drying its fruit yet providing a youthfully classic expression.

Ouvert 15 minutes avant consommation. Couleur grenat sombre brillant.

A complex bouquet of leather, truffles, black plums and licorice. Rich and smooth black fruit with coffee, graphite and savory smoked meat. Very smooth and supple with layers of flavors. Finish has got some grip but lingering. Need at least 3 hrs of decanting to bring out the flavors and balance.
Another tasting in Oct 2018, the wine is slightly more open with sweeter fruits and toasty spices. Still requires extensive decanting for a more balanced and smooth palate. Wait for 3-5 more years.
Retasted in July 2021, the nose and palate did not change much from the last tasting. Palate is just a bit more open showing some savoury flavours and spices. Wait for 3 more years. No change in score.

I never drunk before any Certan de May. I was really suprised, really great nose, a real great fruits mix. And the palate lovely, power and one minute after that really great. So I orderd direkty some bottles. I was really wondering because I thought 2011 was not the great vintage. The chateau has a new fan ;-)

Not a sexy, voluptuous wine like most pomerol. More cerebral and lightweight and takes its time to come around. It was crunchy and high acid, and even lean and green upon opening. Red berries and pomegranate. For 2011 this is a success, but it needs 5 years or some serious aeration to truly coax this wine out of its shell. The tannins still seem just too much at this point.

K&L Bordeaux Tasting (Wine and Wall, SF): Dark fruit and dark toast with Brett. Structured - Elevated tannins (with a plush texture). Medium acid. Rich dark fruit. Longer finish than the 2010. 8.5- 9

Tour des Deux Rives 2016 San Francisco, (San Francisco, Ca.): Tour des Deux Rives 2016 San Francisco, nose of spring flowers, sage, blackberry and black cherry and hints of oak, same on the palate, young, not quite rich fruit but good and tasty, interesting 2011 which should improve in 2 years, medium/big body, long, long, and slightly bitter finish.

K&L Bordeaux Tasting (K&L Hollywood): Lots of spice and some nice earth on the nose. A hint of medicinal herbs as well. Good dark fruit on the palate with soft acidity and a rather significant amount of tannin and a hint of bitterness on the finish, but nevertheless it all works together rather well.

Drank at the Chateau. Tough compared to the other vintages we tried. Nice sweet red and fruit with mushroom and violet. Tannins were present and the finish not as well rounded as the 2010 and 2009.

Deep ruby in color with earth, truffle, cherry blossom and cocoa scents, supple texture with polished, fresh plum and cherry sensations in the finish. 92-93 Pts

Medium+ ruby color. Nuanced and elegant nose of faint dried black fruits, charred wood, vanilla, soft spices and barnyard afternotes. Dry, rounded acidity, soft integrated tannins, palate follows through. Medium+ body, fantastic balance, long lingering finish.

Herbal and energetic, with good acidity, but somewhat thin in texture, hard to see this needing to be held until 2025 as per the CT drinking window.
