Complex, sauteed celery, peppers, tamarind, and oyster sauce aromas over a black currant and pumpernickel toast foundation. Dark, rich palate with mouth-coating tannins and full fruit extract; long, dark finish. 4.5/5

Another BA lounge tasting note. Pleasant surprise! Gratifying cassis-bramble-graphite nose that says, “drink me!”. Tannins mostly resolved. Acidity is lifting and cooling. Smooth and even a little voluptuous in the mouth. Giving a great deal of pleasure now. Bottoms up.

By the glass at the BA Lounge , LHR. Freshly opened. This is another great data point on how well 2011 ( well made ones that is) drink at this moment. Granted a difficult vintage, still the good wine makers made solid wines that actually drink very well early ( for Bordeaux standards) and at this stage this one is the rule not the exception. Good evolution, secondary feel, leather soft spice. Well integrated oak, good balance of fruit and a superb 92. Drinks very well and albeit not one to age another 20yrs will be delicious for another 10 we are sure.

Dark red, a soft, appealing claret that is just dusty enough and just fruity enough without knocking either out of the park. Ticks the aged bordeaux box without being in any way special, which is why I suspect it's in an airport lounge, in this case the Concorde lounge at Heathrow. Solid wine for a poor year, and proves you need not be scared of mediocre vintages if the wine making is good. I expect this was a bargain.

Classic and fruity nose, lots of blue fruit. Lean and very drinkable, good acidity. Well-balanced, a perfect match to the duck. A very good choice as your everyday, mid-price Bordeaux. At its peak.

Qatar lounge in Doha. Dark garnet with translucent rim. Aromatically muted nose requires swirling to release some wood spices and dark fruit, the palate feels like this has been pushed to hard with dark fruit, olive tapenade and almost a slightly oxidative character, wood spices, chewy tannins, short. Perhaps this is in a difficult phase and can improve but would not take the gamble as there are plenty of more convincing vintages and wines at the same price point. 88+?

A nice classical left-bank claret which opened up and deepened as it took air and approached 18 degrees C. Medium+ bodied it showed fresh ripe red fruit, balsamic and cedar hints, fine stony minerals, lively acidity and underlying roundness with discreet tannic backbone and little sign of oak ageing. Elegant and very good.

Color: dark red Nose: Cassis, smoky, big ripe nose Palate: From a half bottle, decanted 2 hours, nice Pessac but still painfully young, dark fruits, meaty 90+

Very aromatic nose of cedar and berries. The palate had slightly herbaceous taste with tight restrained fruit upfront. Finish was moderately long and full. A rather nice wine and ready to be enjoyed now. Can still be kept for a few years.

Well made and pleasant, though not very exciting imo. Probably at or near its peak now.

Amsterdam UGC Tasting and Winemakers' Dinner (Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky / Café De Klepel): Perdictably, this has more depth and weight than the almost ephemeral 2013 and more spicy oak too; avoids any austerity or dryness in the tannins, really lovely.

Light in style, with an herb, olive, leaf, pepper, cranberry and cherry personality, there is a touch of dryness in the finish.
