  • Complex, sauteed celery, peppers, tamarind, and oyster sauce aromas over a black currant and pumpernickel toast foundation. Dark, rich palate with mouth-coating tannins and full fruit extract; long, dark finish.

  • Another BA lounge tasting note. Pleasant surprise! Gratifying cassis-bramble-graphite nose that says, “drink me!”. Tannins mostly resolved. Acidity is lifting and cooling. Smooth and even a little voluptuous in the mouth. Giving a great deal of pleasure now. Bottoms up.

  • By the glass at the BA Lounge , LHR. Freshly opened.
This is another great data point on how well 2011 ( well made ones that is) drink at this moment. Granted a difficult vintage, still the good wine makers made solid wines that actually drink very well early ( for Bordeaux standards) and at this stage this one is the rule not the exception. Good evolution, secondary feel, leather soft spice. Well integrated oak, good balance of fruit and a superb 92. Drinks very well and albeit not one to age another 20yrs will be delicious for another 10 we are sure.

  • Dark red, a soft, appealing claret that is just dusty enough and just fruity enough without knocking either out of the park. Ticks the aged bordeaux box without being in any way special, which is why I suspect it's in an airport lounge, in this case the Concorde lounge at Heathrow. Solid wine for a poor year, and proves you need not be scared of mediocre vintages if the wine making is good. I expect this was a bargain.

  • I appreciated the dregs and the smoothness of this eleven year old bottle of red wine.
