This wine is very much in its drinking window now in a good way. It is now showing tertiary characteristics from the semillon, muscadelle and oak. Full of grapefruit, yellow peach, lemon rind with some tropical flavours still swirling around. Long and a slightly saline finish with gravel and structure. Beautiful.

Wow, another winner from Bernard Magrez! A blend of 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 35% Semillon, 16% Sauvignon Gris and 9% Muscadelle. Golden yellow on the eye. Luvly. Bouquet of grapefruit, vanilla and toasty-oak. Our noses want to sally forth without sipping...stunning. Palate of grapefruit, lemon and a peach nectar-like texture. Long, slightly tart, finish. She only showed after approximately an hour breathing in the bottle. Sip slightly warm to appreciate the aromas and tastes.

Developing surprisingly quickly, some notes of lanolin alongside honey and citrus; a bit flat on the palate with moderate acidity. Perhaps not a great bottle at this tasting?

Blending 40% Sauvignon, 35% Semillon, 16% Sauvignon Gris and 9% Muscadelle produced a wine with a vanilla, floral, lemon, lime and grapefruit personality. Rich, but not over the top, the fresh, crisp, citrus and grapefruit finish filled out nicely.

Union Des Grand Crus Tasting 2011 Vintage, nose of spring flowers, white peach and grapefruit, same on the palate, needs 3 years to peak, lovely finish and aftertaste.
UGC 2011 (The Drake Hotel - Chicago, IL): Usually this can be a bit too oaky and thick for me, but I found this energetic and floral. Sure the price will still be crazy high, but this is really nice. Nice complexity and layers of floral and herbal notes.

Bordeaux 2011 from bottle (Park Hyatt Hotel, Washington D.C.): As you can read - http://www.connectionstowine.com/bordeaux-2011/choose-carefully/#PessacLeognan - this wine is better from bottle than from barrel. Cyrus Hazzard of Total Wine, also at the tasting, loved the opulence. I did, too. The wine seems to have "come together" becoming more cohesive, combining adequate acidity to balance the ripe apricot and somewhat exotic fruit richness. A special bottle, although I do not believe that it will last as long as the Domaine de Chevalier Blanc - another style altogether. Still, for lovers of opulent whites, this is your ticket to be sure!

Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux 2011 Vintage Tasting (Century Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles): Nice aromas, white flowers, tart and fresh but light on fruit. Lemony. Would be nice with oysters.

I like this, certainly more than the '10. This is big but it has precision and is more controlled by far.
