Blinded. Nose was mellow red berry fruit. Tons of earthy soil, and spice notes. Palate shows full resolution with a hint of bitterness on the finish. Probably has gone past its prime, but enjoyable to sip on.

DRC @ WS: Color was pale showing the age, but the intensity wasn't dialed down at all. Soaring from the glass with loads of hoisin, black tea and spices. Ethereal and fully integrated palate with so many layers of complexity. Did not need much air, but plateaued for most of the night before finally fading after 4 hours. WOTN

It seemed several years past its peak. the tannins have completely disolved. it felt like a funky mouldy wine at this stage, kind of like how a bio-dynamic wine tastes. it went well with roasted duck and quail. very game oriented wine.

Great nose of Hoisin, rose petals, star anise and baked earth. The fruit is low acid in the mouth and slightly honeyed but there is detail and good volume. It has good persistence and is quite engaging and one of the better ‘76’s I have had.

Great bottle that has aged elegantly. It was on par with the '76 DRC Richebourg this night. Fruit was still bright, Vosne spices whispering in the background, and both layered in with all the tertiary notes. Terrific old Burg that still spoke of its place.

The nose is slow to open, a bit vegetal and dry; over time it evolves well and becomes richer. The wine is pure and fine but not very interesting at the start as it is quite dry, with mouthpuckering acidity and very light. But wow, with some time and air, this really picked up weight. Died early and never showed tremendous complexity, but at least it was not thin.

Tasted just after a 76 DRC G-E which was very good, but tiring. Also just after a 76 de Vogue Bonnes Mares, supposedly a terrible period for the domaine, but actually a pretty good wine. But the DRC Ex was way more refined, in tertiary phase of course, lots of coffee/animale on the nose backed by perfumed sweet fruit and some earthiness. Soft & ripe. I love 76s, but this was suprisingly good, great balance, delicious. And on the evidence of this bottle, still very much alive.

13.0% alcohol. Reddish-brown color. Initially reticent nose that took about ten minutes to open up. When it did, it revealed a gorgeous, pure, singing old Pinot. Nose of dried red cherry, rose petals, mushrooms, and layers of earth. In the mouth, initially somewhat reticent, as on the nose, with a strong emphasis on earth and mushroom notes. Within twenty minutes, it opened up, but just for about half an hour. But what a half an hour: lovely red cherry just sang beautifully, supported by lovely layers of mushroom, flowers, and rich earth notes. Texturally very nice, with a caressing structure and terrific balance. A seamless wine but one of pure finesse. Started to devolve with some soy notes after having been open for about an hour. Perhaps past its peak, but for a short time it was really beautiful. A-/A

some strawberry and underbrush left on the palate, mostly faded with some rose water and spice. It had seen better days before
