Deep, clear purple - quite alcoholic in the nose - medium bodied in the mouth, with flavours of fruits and darkness, and a hint of sour - smooth finish.

On opening, this was totally mute on both the nose and the palate. I wondered if I weren't coming down with a cold, as seldom does a wine leave such a non-impression. Decanted overnight, this starts to take on a fecund, almost funky nose of red berries, with the same echoed on the palate. This is light-bodied and basically one-note. Not obviously flawed, but ultimately nondescript. Wouldn't buy it again.

Vínsmakk #1 haust 2013 (Marbakkabraut 12): Annað vínið í fyrri hluta smakksins. Dökkfjólublátt. Þungur ilmur, skógarbotn og hey. Krydd í bragði. Pipar og örlítill negull. Plómur.

Weekly tasting group #086; Spain and Portugal versus Italy (@ SB): Purple red. A lot of dark fruits like blackberries, blueberries and cherries in the bouquet. On the palate a juicy somewhat sweet start, some spiciness, ok acidity and mild and round tannin. Some vanilla as well and overall also a firm amount of sweetness. Maybe not extremely complex, but certainly a very ok wine to drink between now and 2018.

Modern, blackcurrant jam nose with fresh, minty notes. Slightly sharp red fruit aroma too. Ripe, juicy black fruit palate with glossy texture and toasty oak finish. Pretty good value. 88 points

-- tasted a single pour non-blind at the winery over approx. 20 minutes -- -- blend of: Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional --
NOSE: rich blackberry; ripe; smells modern.
BODY: violet color of great depth; medium-full bodied.
TASTE: chocolate; purple fruits; good acidity; light tannin; hint of leather; juicy; 13.5% alc.; polished, and quite approachable now. Of the reds we tasted, this one came across as the “most Douro” to me. Fermented in stainless steel.

7 years old and very plummy. Holds up well, sugary with lots of dark fruit. Lack the acidity to create real balance

Easy drinking and simple wine with a touch of liquorice and blackberries. Paired well with codfish.
