Always a great wine to pull out from the cellar. Despite its relatively low price tag (compared to some of the other d'Arenberg wines), it matures really really well. Now at the tender age of 11 years old, it show both great fruit and structure. Drinks very well now, but no rush if you have more (I don't).

Very awesome. Good value wine. Opened without pouring into decenter, after 30 mins, strong scent of berries, spices like cloves, cinnamon came out. Not much tannin left. It matchs so good with baked pork ribs. Though not much change and after taste, it's a very pleasant bottle of wine.

Drank from a magnum which is a gift from the chateau owner. Popped and poured, beautiful floral nose. Silkly mouthfeel, a little sweet tannin, balanced with not excessive acidity. Medium length. Elegant, simple but excellent value.

Think that this is past its peak. Tasted tired and flat. Decent nose with plum and a bit of berry, but a slightly brownish color reflected what was really a rather brownish taste. If you have this I would drink it soon - or not at all.

Medium-dark plum in the glass, the nose featured all manner of cherries (bing, sour, dark) amidst a strong melange of forest floor notes. Straight out of the bottle this was racy and juicy, fruit-forward, and with velvety tannins. However, after this had been opened for an hour, and drank over two hours, the freshness and fruitiness went away, substituted by an earthy, loamy, mushroom character with dark fruits. The bright acidity and juicy tannins were gone, as were most of the cherries. This leads me to believe that it may be just a bit past its prime, or the point at which I like to drink these types of wines.

Decanted 2 hours. A rusty plumb look with hints of port, dark fruit and candied citrus on the nose. Very well balanced, tannins and fruit work well. Dark fruit, pepper, a bit of sweet "something" and silky tannins on the mouth with a nice smooth finish. Carries fruit from start to the end. Drinks very well for the price

Popped and poured. Nice Rhone-like nose of dark cooked fruit with some smokey notes. Flavours of blackberries and over ripe cherries. A little acidic on the palate and througout the finish. Nice Aussie blend.

Dark Purple in color, raspberry and pepper, a bit metalic. Nice acidity with a fairly short finish. Overall a nice example of a Rhone blend for the price. An excellent value.

Dark plum in the glass. Heady aromatics of red and dark fruit dominated by dried herbs extend to the medium-bodied, velvety palate with plenty of upfront peppery spice. Perfectly balanced mild acidity and silky-sweet tannins carry the fruit through to a medium-long finish. Ready to drink and an improvement over the 2002.

Smokey tobacco and some bitter chocolate on the nose. Initially very acidic and hot on the finish although over time this softened. Think it needs more time and I wouldn't recommend drinking now.

Initially whan poured straight from bottle was closed but by the following day had improved - will decant next time (or not drink so young). Full and nicely balanced with enjoyable spicy finish.

Big wine, 15%, fruit, pepper, tobacco. Taste more of the same, burn on back of throat, lots of tannin, licorice.
