Drank over 3 days the last next to a 2014 from Carlisle. Purple and fully extracted, the nose became more expressive over time with blueberries and tea. The tannins in the body are resolved and the body was still full with blue fruits and medium acidity. Medium finish. Better over time. May prefer the 2014 more (drink sooner?) but the tannins were a lot firmer in the 2014. .

Brief Decant. Decent PS but nothing extraordinary. Was purchased from an online auction website and may have been poorly handled by previous owner. Caveat Emptor.

Fabulous, popped and poured, got better and better. Dried fruits, very well balanced. Went very well with sirloin steak with dry rub. Yum, I want more.

PnP with notes of blackberry, blueberry, and some high-toned raspberry; alcohol and a bit of a chalky spine were evident, clamping down on the primary fruit core.
Two hours in a wide-bottomed decanter at cool cellar temperature (54) allowed this to open up. Deeper black, red, blue, and purple berry fruit notes, berry compote, asphalt, black raspberry jam, blueberry, and additional faint hints of incense and Indian spices.
This ended up being a very smooth wine for a PS. A little bit of sediment made for a slight bitterness on the back end, but not distractingly so, more providing a needed frame to appropriately corral the intense fruit.
A signature Mike Officer PS. Ultimately I have preferred the Palisades offerings from Carlisle over other PS wines Mike has crafted, but this is definitely in a similar wheelhouse. Well done.

Wines At Our Table; Week of August 30, 2015; 8/24/2015-8/30/2015: Opaque violet black color with mixed blackberry and blueberry compote aromas intermingles earth, iron and white pepper aromas. On the palate it's shows an opulent, harmonious character with a supple texture, good acidity, and soft well integrated tannins with concentrated blueberry, blackberry, vanilla and a hint of sweet spice flavors. Long finish. 15.2 alcohol. Delicious stuff!

Inky dark purple. Muted aroma but lots of ripe blueberry fruit. Very smooth texture, supple tannins, lower acidity. Rich and supple with almost port-like flavors. No oxidation after 24 hours. Really outstanding stuff. Many years ahead but it might be too good to wait on. Too bad there's so little of it.

Money. Opened for a couple colleagues and drank out of crappy stems and the wine showed excellent. Pure, dark berry, about as dark as wine can get, a cobbler-like feel with a tarry finish. This was open and finished within 45 mins and what a lovely. As much as I enjoy, am thrilled by pinot noir with red fruit and acidity, I still love and pursue wines like this PS and what Mike does with the grape.

Big dark PS, with great black fruit and chewy tannins, needs some time in the decanter. I think it actually opened up alittle more the following day, a couple yrs of cellaring would do this bottle justice but drinking pretty well now.

This was really good, better than expected. Well balanced, not overly toasted oaked like other Carlisles can be. Great fruit and spice balance. Drinking well at this early age but should last 5-7 years. Great wine, too bad Mike only made 40 cases of this gem.

Put in the decanter and drank over the next few hours. It showed pretty well after an hour or so. It was extremely dark in appearance - this actually may be my first PS. Aroma is blackberry, plum, a hint of oak. Taste is black fruit but yet it isn't jammy or heavy. Has some acidity on the finish.

Decanted and drank over several hours but still wasn't very open. My last bottle, but I would recommend holding for several more years.

Two hour decant. Deep, dark color. Jammy, sweet flavor with long finish. Hint of alcohol. This one has plenty of life left.
