A nice solid pinot. Complex enough to tantalize those wanting to pair with spicier or bold dishes, yet mellow enough to be had solo. Fruit is red tree fruit with earthy notes and hints of licorice. Overall a good wine that matches a fair price for a growers blend. Ready to drink now, though a year or two more in the bottle will not hurt it.

A Visit to Tawse Winery (Tawse Winery): There is complexity on the nose of this pinot, but I found it to be in the form of oak. Vanilla, caramel, and spice. Some cherry fruit and cranberry round things out, palateable, even a bit interesting, but really not much appeal for me here.

I was kinda shocked here to see a screwcap on this bottle of Tawse wine – sure I’m used to seeing one on their Sketches line, but rarely on a bottle baring the usual Tawse-striped label. The nose is full of red licorice, cherry and blackberry with a palate that’s juicy – almost to the point of being sweet – containing red berries, a hint of floral (cherry blossom mainly) with good acidity to help keep a clean finish in the mouth. But it’s all that juicy fruit that makes this wine so appealing and the hints of spice on the finish that help complete the deal.

This is young and not drinking easily yet. It has a quite nice Pinot nose ,from first opening. I take this as marking future promise. The mouth feel is still flat , closed and not readyp to yield its secrets. Day 1 and day 2 still pretty flat and closed. Day 3 tast was waning but showing underlying promise. Don't think of drinking this yet.
