Dark red, edges browning. Bx nose w cedar, leather, cassis. Medium-to-full body w good acidity, silky tannins, fruit old but still some sweetness present. Well balanced, but not much complexity. Medium aftertaste w alcohol, some dark fruit. Good value. Time to drink up!

At least as good as last time tasted (~4 years ago). More subdued, but acidity persisted to keep wine alive. Little woodiness remained. Definitely improved with age.

Beautiful and classical Bordeaux bouquet with ripe cassis and raspberries. French oak. On the palate the same fruits and oak plus blood, leather and iron and also a firm dose of sweetness which reveals this is not a Bordeaux. The tannin is very ripe, there is also good acidity and a long finish. The wine is completely mature, but not showing any signs of old age. Really a pleasure to drink now and the coming 2 - 3 years.

Some cork permeation. Significantly better than last tasted (last bottle was quite oxidized); this one kept. Color is rusty garnet. Deep initial nose. Aromas remain gripping and develop to dried cherries, black licorice, dark chocolate, and grilled meat, with slight violet and coffee. Tannins are very well integrated and mild. Sufficient acidity has remained to keep the wine drinking well, although it is very subtle. Fresh raspberry finish.

This wine is right now in a stage that I do not like. The tannins are very smoth but the secondary aromas are yet to come. This makes the wine to jamy for me. I think it will be very good with another 3-5 years in the cellar.

Very classy and Bdx-like Still a little firm though and what with the very high fill, this was still a little too youthful for my preference. No rush to drink and should see 4-8 more years on this evidence

Meerlust Rubicon Vertical (Caldesi, London): A definite air of Frazzles on the nose: a sort of artificial smoky bacon and corn syrup smell, with some mulberry fruit. Good palate: fairly direct, lacking complexity, but very pleasant. After a while the bacon on the nose blows off and you get more Christmas and mulled wine spices on the nose. Very Good.

Meerlust Rubicon Offline (Caldesi, London): Slightly bacon-fat nose. Cruchy fruit, good acidty. Slightly high-toned on finish. Bacon disipates and leaves a scented, spicy nose. Slightly dry after an hour or so. 4+
