Decanted for an hour. A very nice nose of cassis with a. touch of barnyard, classic, and quite strong, the heat of the year showing through. The palate is also dominated by strong dark fruit, feels it is at its peak. I'm quite sure this won't be getting any better, very good now.

Perfect Boredeaux nose of dark fruit, vanilla and slight garrigue. After 13 years this is velvet on the initial palate with mild cassis and blueberry. The soft tannins linger into a more jammy finish with a hint of chocolate at the end. Great example of Margeaux at a very reasonable price.

Good quality Medoc 5th growth, with medium ruby color, and a developing and fairly intense, complex nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, liquorice, cloves, toast, chocolate and forest floor. Medium in acidity, the tannin is a bit grippy in my opinion. The wine is fairly full-bodied, with a reasonably intense palate of blackberry, dark plum, prune, liquorice and toast. Finishing with a reasonable length, it is ready to drink now and can benefit from further ageing of another 2-3 years.

I agree with previous post...Ruby color Elegant nose, very margaux like The palate confused me a bit. At first there was an impressive harmony of red fruits and a little earth and acid, but over time the earth interfered with the balance. The high acid makes me wonder if the fruit will ever get the chance to shine through. (Kinda like 05 burgundy) Try in a few more years 50+4+13+13+7 = 87

Deep purplish ruby red, very supple wine with good mix of red fruit and earthy scent. On the palate, the tannin is still slightly harsh, medium length finish, quite a feminine wine.

Really an excellent wine. Very rich and elegant bouquet, wonderfully smooth and full mouth with a rich fruit and acidity with that very special Margaux taste. Quite long finish. I think this wine is superb to drink now, but can become even better and even extraordinary if we let it age 10-12 years more.

Decanted 1 hr. Ruby-purple to the rim. Very fruity on the nose, with plum, blackberry and tobacco/chocolate notes. Similar flavors on the palate with medium-full body and approachable, supple tannins. Nice acidity level as well. A classic Margaux with a great supple mouthfeel.

2003 Bordeaux Horizontal Tasting (Wentworth Hotel, New Castle, NH): My WOTN. Color plum/ruby on the edge. Smooth nose of briary fruits, pencil, wet stone, and a hint of leather. Palate with good density of fruit, minerals with good mouthfeel with tannic background which slowly builds. Very balance and enjoyable. Should continue to improve.

Half bottle is drinking beautifully. Certainly seems to be at its peak, but can hold for another 5+ years. Not sure if it will get better though.

I really enjoyed this Margaux. Exceptional flavors and complex fruit throughout, both mid palate as well as on the finish.

TN: 2003 Red Bordeaux (Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux Tasting); 1/26/2006-1/27/2006 (Drake Hotel, Chicago, Illinois): This estate makes wines in an old world style that I enjoy. This was similar in style to their 1998. Medium bodied and elegant. A core of sweet fruit which included cherry, ripe plum and some milktoast notes. The tannins were rather integrated. 91+ points
