About a year to the date later, this wine is drinking at its apex or slightly beyond. Beautiful copper color in the glass, the nose showed dried cherry and ginger. It’s got a fresh mousse and holds up well over a couple hours, but I don’t think has a lot to gain. Drink up from 750

Beautiful wine, at peak and absolutely ready to go from 750 ML. Pouring a medium amber color with plenty of mousse, the wine is immediately expressive with caramel, soft, spices, and mature red fruit notes. Quite a bit of butterscotch on the palate, put simply, the wine is ready to drink now, as further time for development would result in loss of fruit, spritz, etc.

from magnum, this was in pristine condition, with great energy, balance, some secondary development, and beautifully crisp raspberry fruit. I don’t tend to love Dom, but this was exquisite. It was the opener in a long night and i had to remind myself not to drink too much. 97

Not nearly as impressive as the previous bottle and from the same source. Pretty color, though. Disjointed, the acidity is too prominent for the fruit. Lacking much Rosé character. It seems much younger than it is, which could be a good thing, but in this case, is not. Still, not a bad drink but I know it could be much more.

Fabulous "young" mature DPR, much better than the white. Beautiful fragrance of soft red fruit, complex and elegant. Medium full on the palate, excellent integration of red berry and white champagne. Wonderful.

Orangey brown in the glass. There had to be something wrong with this bottle, although it looked perfect, because it made for very curious tasting. Seemed like maybe too much oxygen at first, delivering mushrooms and mature maple. Interestingly the bubbles were still super intense.
Way different and way better after three hours of air. Peaches, raspberry, and creamy brioche. Not amazing but an impressive turnaround. A real let down as it seems like this could have been an amazing bottle, although it was quite unique an complicated at the end. Will just have to find another one.

From magnum. Dark pear and apple cider with spice on the back of the nose. Dark fruit on the palate with dry stones. Light pinot tackiness on the back of the palate

Almost like an aged burg white in fact. Rose gold. A nice bouquet of florals , spice and vented candles. On the palate this is succinct , nicely dry with flinty berries and schist in fact.

Rule of Wu #3, all champagne must be out of magnums. If I was blinded this champagne I would have probably guessed 1999/2000 as it had this steely youthfulness to it but was round and sweet. This wine really hasn't developed much of what you'd think an 88 champagne would (which is not a bad thing). It's youthful and bright and full of life.. just like what most of the people drinking wine want to be :D. Fleshy fruit, beautiful acidity.. really opened up about two hours in. A real treat to drink. Will develop forever.
After the 85 dom out of mag and this 88 rose showing such wonderful development compared to most of the 750's I've had.... Wu's rule #3 might be the way to go.

Stong orange hue. Smells great, with red fruit and spice and caramel, on the palate tending toward burgundian red fruit and earthiness but lively and fresh. The only nit is the length wasn't great, only good. Terrific stuff.

Vrij rood van kleur, mooie zachte bruis, piepkleine belletjes, heerlijke neus met wat fruit en complexiteit, smaak is heerlijk zacht en met perfecte balans, licht fruitig, complexiteit en veel finesse, top

Wow. Just the best Rose Champagne I've ever had. Beautiful pink color (a little on the dark side), fluffy mousse, lots of kirsch, long aftertaste. Less austere that others, the slightly sweet taste was just perfect. I've had cristal, and i've had Krug (to say nothing of Vilmart, Billecart Salmon, etc..), but I think Dom Rose is the hands down winner.

($240) Not quite what I expected. Slightly creamier than the regular champagnes with a subtle hint of raspberry on the nose. Bit less acid. Chalk. Okay. Served with carpaccio of Kobe beef with warm French olive oil, parmesan pudding, and shaved black truffles.

From magnum. More resolved and mature than other recent experiences, particularly given the format.
