Nice Armagnac nose, starts intense on the fruit and some spiciness, evolves in the glass with a warm profile of cinnamon and notes from the oak. On the palate slightly creamy but without any sweetness, intense, fresh and long. Quit complex for a 12 years old Armagnac and worth the money.

£67 sounds like a lot of money for a 12 year old Armagnac but this is incredible. Gorgeous creamy custard nose. Stone fruit on the palate, baking spice, aromatic and elegant. Gorgeous and profound. I could not stop tasting this.

This is just what I want from Armagnac. Virile but quite lean and elegant and free of those exaggerated caramel notes which blight so many "prestige" brandies and Calvados. Very good.

Quite tasty. Intense fruit, amber, vanilla, spice, honey and a bit of honey on the finish, plus some lovely Armagnac oak notes. And an intoxicating, floral nose. Quite lovely. Good qpr for $60.

A private lunch (Restaurant La Tupina, Bordeaux, France): Intense and elegant, plums and honey, minerals, sweet orange, intense and smooth, elegant and long, a happy marriage between Cognac elegance and Armagnac intensity and power.

Had it at a tasting; Marc Darroze helped host and told us about it. They use three grapes, Ugni Blanc, Baco, and Folle Blanche, and are a negociant firm that blends from various wine growers in the Bas Armagnac region of Gascony (Gascogne). Darroze is located in Roquefort.
This is their website: http://www.darroze-armagnacs.com/index.en.html
In comparison with cognac, Armagnacs tend to keep the flavors of the terroir whereas cognac tries not to; Armagnacs are single distilled and Cognacs do a double distillation. Both use the Ugni Blanc grape, but Armagnacs also use the two others.
The twelve year is yellow to golden yellow in color; Darroze reports that it has 10 years in contact with oak. I could taste floral and some fruits (like black fruit) and some liquorice and cinnamon.

Better than expected. Good Armagnac blend. Quite smooth and refined with some depth. On a par with the Reserve Speciale, which can tend to the rustic on occasion.

Fiery, starting to take on some spiciness, and honestly it's not as fiery or painfully young as I thought it would be.
