1 or 1 decanted at 4:00 served blind at 8:15…. Initial reactions were that this was mildly corked … knowing what it was I thought it was just a muddy, mediocre 2004 … either way glad this was the only 2004 Red Burgundy in my cellar

A few favourites with coq au vin (Chicago, IL): As far as 2004 goes, this doesn't have the super overt green that some of the worst offenders have, but there are definitely some tell-tale green elements here. What I've noticed is that with so much age now, those flavours have changed into something more brown and a little sucralosey, but there's still a slight unpleasant chemical sensation about them. Nonetheless, there are still some very nice Chambolle red-fruit elements here. This is definitely a light wine, and would have been very nice but for those browning green notes.

Apples, raspberry, strawberry, roses, sous bois, laundered lace; light but powerful, plateaued, mouth-filling, long-lived, almost eternal; a pleasant simple decrepitude; not extraordinary, but very good indeed for a village wine

Light ruby, floral nose with black cherry, hints of stem, caramel, allspice and wood, racy on the palate with spicy black and red fruit, volcanic lift and bright acidity, long finish with red cherry, seashell, mint, citrus and earthy notes

This was a really nice, elegant mid-weight Chambolle where the character of the '04 vintage did not at all detract and in fact seemed to add nice complexity and interest. Really easy to drink.

Great Bottle. nose with (strawberries, cherries) red fruit, spice and secondary tones of autumn, delicate. My wife called this wine both male and female and indeed it combines the strength of the cote the nuits with silky and flowery and pafrum tones. Good length and balanced wine. No green elements what you find in other 04's

Smakt over 4 timer i karaffel. Dette er godt - men litt grønt. Røde bær mot bringebær og moreller, men ikke noe rips å spore. Pen syre og lengde, men det vegetale ligger der og snerper litt hele tiden. Drikk opp, dette kan kanskje tørke ut snart. Altfor dyrt (429) ifht kvalitet.

This is just delicious. Consistently one of the best villages Burgs, even in a "lesser" vintage like 2004. Always wonder if this a worth the price point, but I love it.

2004 Red Burgundies (Brooklyn): Noticeably more supple in texture than the Barthod and also shows a little bit of oakspice - not obvious at all except in the comparison, to be fair, and it eventually seems to melt into the wine, which probably benefits from the extra dash of sweetness. An elegant wine but not terribly expressive, kind of like an awkward date that doesn't say much of anything all night long but is pretty enough to look at. . . .

This is one Mugnier villages in the 200's that I would not rebuy so glad it was my only bottle of 2004. Better the next day from the 375 as it picked up some volume and the leafiness receded. The purity that I like in Mugnier is there but you have to work to get it. Better value elsewhere in 2004 such as Bertheau 1er Cru or Roumier villages from the ones I have tried.

light red color, nose of strawberries . light red fruits on the mouth, nothing too exciting in this glass, red fruits, light/med weight, not too much on the finish. pleasant

"Champagne, Chablis and a Touch of Red" Dinner (HIX Oyster and Chophouse, London): Threw in a younger bottle out of curiousity as so much noise about the "greenies" . this wine has a dark color, a strong nose of red fruits. on the mouth it is spicy dark cherry juice dipped in chocolate , well balanced long finish. there is a touch of heat and black pepper but i don't get the green pepper or veg that gets thrown onto the '04s. perhaps i am not that sensitive. nice wine, leave it alone for a while to let the tannins smooth out

This wine has some quinine, it also has a very pretty aroma of dried flowers, cherry and freshly grated ginger. It is quite restrained and compact in the mouth but gains weight in the glass. It has not anywhere near the depth of fruit as the 05 or 06 versions but was delightful with a tomato and saffron based fish stew.

Bought this on the advice of Eric A. Color was light ruby. The nose was strawberry, mineral, and a bit vegetal. The palate was medium bodied with the nose echoing through. This wine was fine, but nowhere near worth the tariff.

fresh red currants, a hint of green (but in a very pleasant way), slight touch of black licorice and fresh berries. light bodied and quite delicate. suggests more on the nose and on the finish. I'd guess, tomorrow the palate will have developed quite a bit. nice wine but not to be paired with anything overpowering.

Light red colour. Fairly primary, but pretty, red fruit aromas with a hint of brambly tannins. Slightly drying character at the end. Not at peak yet; better after 12-24 months. Not sure if this is suited to long aging; fear that the fruit will dry up before tannins are fully mature.

Delicious. Freddy never disappoints. This would rival Dujac or Roumier at the same level.

Drinking beautifully now. Clean fruit, hint of spicy notes. No green. Wonderful mature nose. Mugniers 2004s are stunning still. No rush yet to drink.
