Medium garnet in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of mature, ripe fruits aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, leather, tobacco, mushrooms, tar, minerals, hints of balsamic notes & cedar in the background. Full bodied with very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, mature, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with mushrooms, minerals & herbs. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at 27 years of age, it is at or near its peak of development. Although it should hold here for several more years, I doubt any further development would occur with additional aging.

I believe this was decanted for about an hour. Earthy and leathery initially. Faded, darker toned fruit, a little tired and lean. With more air the fruit emerges somewhat but still this all about tertiary notes. I wouldn't guess this to have been from a hot vintage though. This grew on me but many at the table thought it to be to earthy and tired.

Red fruit with a bit of dust and leather, showing a lot of class and freshness, it is drinking extremely well right now.

French Bakery BYO Brunello Dinner (French Bakery, Kane Concourse, Bay Harbor Islands, FL): Flight 1, #2. David and Roberta's wine. My favorite in the flight, and preferred by the wine professionals in the group. Most balanced and complex without any trace of brett.
