Nez d'épices, romarin, garrigue, poivre vert. 87+ pts

This was the second of two southern rhones we opened to drink with grilled flap meat tacos. It had plenty of freshness and lift to go with the food and put on quite the Grenache show with pretty red fruit wrapped around a nice core of spicy/floral garrigue. Delicious.

Popped and poured, no sediment. This is a solid wine - everything I look for in a good Southern Rhone. Smooth black cherries on the nose, with a dollop of funk and a little bit of minty stemmy greenness. Eched on the palate, very good structure, with a medium body and that nice talc-y plumminess. It's probably at its peak, but there's no sign of that over-sausagey old Rhone thing, so there's no rush. I've been burnt out on flat and uninteresting 2007s, so this was a breath of fresh air. This is my second Lirac from Mordorée recently, and both were standouts. I'd have been happy if this were a $40 CdP, but a Lirac on clearance for $6? Score.

88+ pts

Once again Greenblanket is very happy with this wine. It just keeps getting better - this time it was all about the beautiful earthy garrigue, poised black and red fruit and lively acidity. Greenblanket recognized notes of the thyme flowers he brushed while working in the garden this morning. Not a blockbuster just a lovely characterful and balanced bottle of wine.

Drinking very nicely right now but I think several more years will reward the patient holder of this wine. Last night it was showing lovely black and red fruits along with minerals and southern rhone spices on a bright and concentrated frame. Lots of evidence of superior wine making and vineyard practice here from the beautiful color and appearance in the glass to the fresh, clean flavors to the expressive nose of this excellent wine.

It was sweet at first with a strong alcohol finish, but mellowed a bit with air. Opened as our second bottle to have with dessert and drank the rest the next day.

Very nice with a fresh and balanced palate and a lovely vibrant purple hue in the glass. Not hugely expressive but I like the adjective used by a previous poster - nuanced - with black fruits, tar, tobacco, spices and even some floral elements.

Decent bottle of budget Rhone, but not as expressive as other 04's I've had recently. Not giving a lot on the nose, and rather ordinary on the palate. Definitely balanced...nuanced almost. Did not have the freshness and brightness of other 2004s in this category. Geared a little more in syle towards the mass-produced wines that you can get for a few dollars less.

Dark red. Pretty good Southern Rhone nose, raspberry and espresso with some spice and pepper. Nice full flavours, lots of acid and some tannin. Good.

Nice earthy nose and palette. Solid finish with good balance, perhaps a little to acidic. Overall a good wine.

Good. Cherries and rasberry notes. Medium body. Similar to the Alain Jaume Lirac. Good value.

Saturated ruby/purple color. Nice Grenache character -- red fruits, black pepper, some spice. Good concentration and length. A good QPR at ~$17.50.

Nice rhone blend, but a bit restrained for me. No formal notes.
