Pop and pour. Brought up a wine, gave to my wife, and she said: why didn't you bring up something different from what we've been drinking. April Fool's joke's on me. Brought this up instead. Betrays every bit of its 15% ABV in heat on the nose and palate. I'll be generous and call it "spice". Pure plum, dense black and blue fruit on the nose..with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. On the palate: solid acidity, lighter bodied than expected, compensated for by black pepper and heat, cola, black fruit and grainy tannin on the finish. Good, but somewhat disjointed. This btl seems likely to fall apart.

PNP. Deep hazy brick red color, with a rusty rim. Dark raspberry, fresh blackberries, lemon cookie, and minerality. Smooth, dry, slightly tart palate, with good acidity. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the medium long finish. 100% Grenache
Drinks surprisingly fresh for its age. Lacks complexity and I don’t love the tartness. Tasted at the winery in Tain-l’Hermitage.

Ruby, garnet around the edges. Peppery, spicy nose with a hint of tartness. Red fruits on the first taste, acidity and sharpness follows. A nice long finish with currants, berries , cedar coming through. Tannins beginning to soften but still time to round out. Medium-full bodied.

Deep ruby color starting to show a little age. On the nose I find iron, sous-bois, dried cherry and plum with some dried sage as well. Very nice and superb balance. I think this is right in the prime drinking window in fact it went beautifully with beef stew and braised vegetables.

PnP over an hour. Complexed nose of sweet red and dark fruits with notes of peppers, herbaceous and tobacco. Very sweet on the entry. There is a Strong concentration of fruits on the palate with chocolate and vanilla notes. Wine seems to be young and the secondary notes and minerality has not been fully integrated. Perhaps a lengthy decant will benefit.

Anise and fresh cherries on the nose lead you to a medium bodied, forward, fresh, elegant kirsch filled wine from 100% Grenache that is ready for drinking today.

Selection Parcellaire Masterclass with Michel Chapoutier (Maison Vauron, Auckland, New Zealand): Classic grenache hue - very youthful in appearance. On the nose, tight aromas of bark, minerality, white pepper and candy cane. This is a super classy grenache with a sweet and direct mouthfeel - the alcohol is well managed. Very refined and certainly outstanding but for me lacked a bit of soul.

In a nice place right now, but I think entering the shut down phase. Muted fruit, bramble earth, but a bit on the thin side.
