Deep garnet. Decanted while drinking over 2 hours. Took about 30 minutes to wake up. Really wonderful minerality and elegance. No signs of the ripeness of the vintage.

The color of the wine ist pale ruby with garnet reflexes. On the nose there are pronounced aromas of dark cherries, strawberries, balsamic notes, tobacco, smoked bacon. The acidity is high. The tannins are low and very silky. The body is medium. On the the palate the flavors are also pronounced and similar to the nose but the red fruit aromas are dominating. The finish is very long. This wine is at the beginning of its drinking window. The fruit aromas are still very present. This wine has a huge potential for aging. Straight from the bottle, the wine was rather closed. Therefore, I decanted it for 2 hours. It made a big step and opened up. A really beautiful wine. I like it. Glass I used: Zalto Burgundy

Fairly reticent and inexpressive initially, with several hours an intriguing nose of blood and wormwood, undergrowth with a herbal/medicinal quality. The palate is quite saline and secondary, soy, BBQ meats, Asian spice, tobacco, a sturdy, masculine Nuits, best at about the 5 hour mark. Tannin very fine but somewhat prominent oak.

After 45 minutes airtime-has that NSG tannic snap I like, tamed a bit by time to balance dark berry fruit and earth. Somehow delicate and powerful like a ballet dancer on pirouette this is very good and has years to go.

Dark ruby. Initially reticent nose develops with time into a melange of red fruits, citrus, florals, dark earth, minerals. Closed initially, with an hour of air such a beautiful, feminine, weightless palate of raspberries, violets, black cardamom spice, anise, hoisin and beef stock.

Very consistent with my notes from last time I had this (5 month ago) but this time maybe even more expressive. The nose is almost hypnotic right from PnP. On the palate the acidity still has a firm grip but leads the fruit complexity nicely toward a long finish. Love this wine. I´ve never had a disappointment from L´Arlot. 93-94+ P

Just sneaked into 92 as it has just entered a window. PnP into large red Burg Zalto glass. Crimson, sharp glistening, beautiful hues of summer fruit. No sous bois. This is get up and go. It may develop +1/2 points but it really is all there now. Crack on and enjoy. It is most certainly not a (70 typo previous score - a shame (unless you’re buying) as it brings the punter scores down) poor performer. Crack on. Superdoops.

Amazing complexity in the nose (almost right from PnP), stony minerality, gunpowder, earl grey tea, gooseberry, cherrystone. On the palate a concentrated fruit with cherry and blackberries and a firm acidity grip toward the end. This tight acidity softens up after an hour, but still a good grip on the backend. Very good balance. The finish is medium/long with herbal notes but in complexity not fully up to the complexity in the nose and the palate. I believe this wine will only improve next 5-8+ years, yet it Is irresistible now. Lovely wine. I very seldom find a disappointment from this Domaine. 92-93P

Initially quite reticent, following a hour this opened up beautifully. Detailed, concentrated nose, spice, complex floral perfumes, truffle, animale, dark humus earth and sois bois. Graceful mineral palate, subtle hints of dark fruits, violets, high acidity and unobtrusive tannin. Best clearly still to come, but quite lovely now. Straddles masculine and feminine quite nicely.

Domaine de l’Arlot reds historically have been very rich and rigid, needs time to bring balance to the wine. I personally preferred their recent vintages from 2015 onwards, their NSG whites are also very interesting. Tasted blind – Rich and heavy red berries, slight greenness but grippy tannins, not well integrated. 2013? Nuits Saint Georges? (70/100)
In the beginning very disappointing, then slowly improved. Will need 5+ years to get rid of wood/coal and bitter aromas. Alternatively decant at least 3+ h. Potential to get 92 points.

Precise Cherry and woody notes on the nose. Touch of smoke. Nice weight, cool mouthfeel, tannins present. Rich dark and cherry flavours, with a spicy/dry finish. Very appealing, polished. Will definitely come back to this in the future.

United Cellars Grand Cru Burgundy tasting (Harbour 220/L15 131 Macquarie Street): polished oak, cream, vanilla, caramel, over biscuit and cherry, the coffee, toast and some slightly stalky notes. More of the same on the palate, juicy, balanced, complex, lots going on , too young though, still quite puppy fat on the nose and palate, carries long with spice notes and slightly cherry stone, silky tannins. Difficult to spit. Very good. Second taste more than reinforces this. Superb in fact.

Has quite a bit of aniseed and licorice on the nose along with dark cherries. It is plush and velvety with good volume and some floral nuance. There's structure buried beneath the flesh and the wine just flexes its minerally muscle towards the end of the palate. A very pretty Nuits.

Very nice wine and accessible today. For me, it lacks the complexity to merit a higher score.
