No detailed note, but delicious with chicken curry, the sweetness balancing the heat of the curry and the acidity cutting through. My last bottle and I never did write a formal tasting note.

At home, drank over 2 nights. I am the sole Riesling drinker in the houshold so I have to pace it...
From prior notes: "light straw/gold color. Nose of petrol, white flowers. Palate was orchard fruits, pear, baked apples, lemon... Sweet, but somewhere in between off dry and dessert wine- Auslese usually tending a a dessert wine but this could go either way..."
Drinking well right now, balanced sweetness and acidity. Still crisp, aging nicely, expected for a great vintage from the Mosel. Should continue to drink well but doubt this will improve much from here. Great QPR

Good acidity to balance the sweetness. Pear, tangerine, and tart lemon on the finish. Medium intensity and a little shallow considering the age, but well balanced and drinking very well. I let it open up for a couple hours and it seemed to improve with air.

Dinner made by Karen M, awesome night, roast pork and accompaniments for a "friends-giving"...One of my contributions for the evening, popped and poured 2 bottles, drank over 2 hours...left some for the hosts
First bottles opened from a batch bought several years ago at auction. Still looks youthful, light straw/gold color. Nose of petrol, white flowers. Palate was orchard fruits, pear, baked apples, lemon. Really nice fruit profile, showing the strength of of one of the great vintages for Mosel.
Sweet, but somewhere in between off dry and dessert wine- Auslese usually tending a a dessert wine but this could go either way...I found it to be a great pairing for the roast pork and goes well with overall "harvest" flavors.
You have to like the style and varietal - our crowd was split on it, some loved it others dont like the sweetness. Common reaction for Riesling in general as most palates (at least American) are geared
Wine has aged nicely, seems to be in a good drinking zone that my guess is it will hold for well stored bottles for some time. Great QPR, I think I paid $19.

Vindredi (Barcode (Bellevue, WA)): Smells of burnt rubber and petrol. But the body is fresh and young with soft lemon curd. Some sweetness, but not overpowering, and finishes with good acidity.

Good bottle, a little light for an Auslese, but very well-balanced (actually perfectly). No need to rush, although I am not certain what more time will do.

Amazing QPR. Beautiful straw colored with crisp notes of Asian pear, lemon rind and tart apple. Off dry with very lively acidity. At 9% ABV its easy to quaff.

Light sweetness - seems very classical by today's standards. Benefited from air. Pears and papaya on the palate with a funky note on the finish - somewhat smokey and a touch musty. I kept going back and forth between digging the note and not really liking it. With air I felt it got better integrated and not obtrusive. Not quite up to my expectations for an Auslese from one of the greatest recent vintages but interesting and decent for the modest tariff.

Oh wow! This is pretty disarmingly great! I'm guessing this is a particularly good bottle in a wide swathe of varied bottles. The acid cleaves through the heavy midpalate. Far more lithe than I'd've ever imagined.

Drank this over four days putting it back in the fridge with the cork in each day. It was at its best on day four gaining weight and power as time went by. I loved the yellow intense fruits in the palate and the bracing acidity which mellowed by day four, leaving behind sharp fruit. I really liked this by the end.

Completely dull on the nose, and pleasant on the palate though not very complex. Seeing prior notes, I will give my next bottle air; but I'm not accustomed to having to massage a bottle so much to get something out of it.

Initially rather dull, mostly waxy, and with low acidity. Began to blossom after 1-2 hours, with notes of peaches, white tea, apple skin and off-dry sweetness resembling aspartame (particularly on the finish) -- in other words, this was somewhat akin to a flavored iced tea. Went well with a Japanese curry (thick, non-creamy, not spicy, mostly driven by turmeric). 87-89

9% EtOH nose - very nice, lush, fruity - pit fruit as well as some tropical aromas such as mango. Has that petrol character mouth - crisp, pure, reminiscent of spring water, the minerality on this wine shines and commands my attention as much as or more than the sweet and tart apple flavors. Very good acidity to boot. Here the minerality, acidity, and sweetness play off each other very impressively. Wish I bought more of this.

From memory. PNP. Color straw. Flavor great. Balanced between acid and RS. Style of this is more classic auslese to me with lighter style. Absolutely no danger of near term decline. Totally happy with this one tonight. Couldn't put it down.

Not too terribly complex, and it could have used more acidity, but I can't really complain given the price.

Native yeast fermented. Paired amazingly well with Thai food.
Dark yellow straw color.
Nose of red apple, honey.
Crisp acidity offset by the slight sweetness in harmony.
Clean, lingering mouth watering finish.
a bargain for a 2001 at $20
