  • Sadly, this bottle was oxidized

  • Golden yellow in color. Expressive aromas of honeysuckle, ripe pears, yellow fruits, hint of truffle and savory spices. A very textural wine that shows incredible density and richness to the creamy and honeyed poached yellow peaches, pears, hint of celery seed, medium acidity and a long floral and spicy finish.

  • Wow! Beautiful rich, ripe pineapple color. Intoxicating nose of Stilton and soft rind cheese, oak, spiced syrup peaches, apricots, crystallized ginger and cardamom. Apricot and exotic sweet spice on the palate with extraordinary precision. As another noted, this wine does better as it warms towards room temp - not too chilled. Amazing wine.

  • Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.

I have not provided a score for this bottle because something did not seem to be right when I tasted it. I am not certain if it was me (muted taste due to allergies) or the wine itself. It as simply not all impressive, bordering on bland. It looked fine (in terms of color, etc.), the cork was okay, and so forth, but there was just not a lot going on.

  • Pop and pour to a deep golden straw hue with limestone, citrus mist, honeysuckle, spiced pear and wet gravel nose into glass. Layers upon layers of melon, sweet white fruits, and light honey can be picked out and contemplated for individual freshness and precision, or simply allowed to drench the palate - this is delightfully decadent. Nothing cooler than 'slightly chilled' seems to be the way to go with this wine. Two years since we last drank this, and many remaining.

  • Hard to put into words. Transcendent. Inspiring. Great white Burgundy doing what great white Burgundy does. Chase the Dragon. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant wine. Thanks rowdy.

  • Long cork, not soaked through, but pretty wet. This and other characteristics suggest drinking this wine in the near term rather than the long term.

Upon the advice of the CT forum, I did not decant this bottle, and I think that was the right decision. I did let it breathe for 20-30 min before drinking it, although it seemed to be quite drinkable right as it was opened.

Color a deep yellow. Balance excellent. I think you need to have an appreciation for aged white wine (obviously, Burgundy in particular) to appreciate this wine fully. It was clearly not oxidized, but it did have the richness that comes with age for good white wines. Nevertheless, it was still crisp.

All in all, a very good bottle, although it did not quite live up to my expectations -- which may have been too high. I would have liked to see my reactions if I had tasted this blind alongside some Corton Charlemagne -- if only :-).

  • I can't really begin to describe this wine because I've never had something like this before. Pale staw colow. Initial nose of candied bergamot (that wasn't candied if that makes sense), lemon and fresh marzapan. With time and air, there also were notes of fresh mushroom and earth that blended perfectly. The palate was balanced and crisp with incredible complexity. Delicious. I see why people suggest drinking a premier cru before grand cru - the difference is off the charts. I don't know if I've had a still wine this intense, yet balanced. Wow.

  • Bourgogne tasting (Henriks appartment): Golden amber color. Mushroom, glue, chemicals on the not so giving nose. Lively acidity on the palate, but the taste is also more intense giving some white flowers, mushrooms and minerals. It gains more power with air and at the time I finish my glass it was definitely better than right out of the bottle.
