Rich, blood and leather with plums, cherries and tobacco and hints of violets, lavender and raspberries. Fine grained tannins and good acidity give a nice finish. An elegant powerful wine that is ideal with a good steak.

Not excited by this, dark colour still looking fresh, some plum and chocolate on the nose, quite smooth and reasonably fruity but nothing distinguishing and not much length, can't see this improving much if at all, had a couple of hours decant and tasted the same at the start as the finish ? So while presenting differently from the first bottles no real improvement.

My fourth bottle of this wine and none so far have shown that well, maybe the last two with more time will improve ? Not much on the nose forest floor red berries, dried red berries and a sort of leather/oak with some acidity in the mouth and some length, overall not up to the price paid the last two will prove or disprove that.

Still a baby, this has high tannin (of exceptional quality) and zingy acidity leaning to a very pure, but leaner profile than I expected. Full bodied and concentrated, it's hard to get past the tannin at this stage, but it's certainly loaded with flavor! Give it a few more years, pair with a ribeye and drink to age 12-15+. 93+

Deep purple colour, complex nose of caramel, chocolate, toffee, caramac and floral notes at end. The palate is super smooth, easy drinking, plummy flirt, quite dense, even slightly cloying damson fruit then a very nice mineral finish. Tasted blind, and surprised once I learnt what it was as it wasn't as good as its price tag should command. An excellent wine nonetheless but not extraordinary.

Megamoon Part V: Mendoza (Argentina); 11/1/2015-11/3/2015 (Park Hyatt Mendoza, Lujan de Cayo, Uco Valley): 50% from the Nicasia vineyard and 50% from the Adrianna - vineyards are both located in the Uco Valley. This is a fruit-predominate wine, mostly red fruits, a bit higher acidity than I would have expected (given some other Argentinian wines we've had on the trip). With some time I get a bit of leather as well. I preferred the Nicolas that we also tried that day but mostly because this one felt a bit more basic to me (could also have been a bit of palette fatigue). Within the broader group tasting this was the favorite wine.

Cantena Zapata tasting (Gamle Logen Oslo): Even more sweetness on the nose. Riper fruit than the 2011 with elements of cola and clove. Pronounced flavour intensity which ends in a long fruit and spice bomb

Drank 1st of 6 to see what it would be like. This is a big, well balanced wine. Full of fruit but still v tannic. Needs at least 2 and probably 5 years. I hope my score may prove to be conservative.

Bodega Catena Zapata Tasting (Bin 75): Tart raspberry, dark fruit; incense, burning embers, char, fresh pop of fruit on the finish keeps this from being too heavy; better with 2-4 years.

Dark red with a purple center and pink edges...aromas of red berries, oak and alcohol. It is smooth, dry, rich with syrupy/shiraz like red berry and oak flavors. The finish was long a rich....a little too much oak for my palate.

Didn't taste as I remembered in the winery in 2014. Either I waited too long or I did not properly store it.
